JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (ChurchMilitant.com) - An undercover video exposed a Democrat senator's re-election campaign for secretly taking donations from Planned Parenthood.
The video, from conservative activist group Project Veritas, shows campaign workers for Democrat Sen. Claire McCaskill of Missouri talking about how Planned Parenthood funnels money to McCaskill's campaign through other organizations.
Apparently, the abortion giant hands over money to other organizations, who then turn around and donate it to McCaskill's campaign.
Planned Parenthood donates through middlemen to McCaskill's campaign because "they don't want to ostracize pro-life Democrats in Missouri," said one campaign staffer. He said on another occasion featured in the Project Veritas video, "They go through, like, other means to get us that money."
The same staffer called the set-up "f***ing beautiful," adding with a chuckle, "It's great when it works for us and not against us, let's be honest."
Project Veritas confirmed this with a higher-up in McCaskill's campaign, who said, "Yeah, I think it's, like, a tactic to, like, not make them too far Left, to try to get the moderate voters."
She added, "They go through other means to support and give the money."
At another point during the video, two of McCaskill's staffers agreed that she is more politically progressive than she comes across to voters.
President Donald Trump won Missouri in the 2016 election, beating his Democrat opponent Hillary Clinton by nearly 20 percentage points. Because Missouri voters are pro-Trump and lean conservative, Democrats running in the state often have to bill themselves as moderates if they want a chance at getting elected.
McCaskill is running for re-election in Missouri against Republican challenger Josh Hawley, currently the state's attorney general. She recently called on Hawley to investigate Project Veritas— the group behind the undercover investigation into her campaign — on potential charges of fraud for going undercover to infiltrate her.
McCaskill has been losing her slight lead in the polls after she voted against Brett Kavanaugh's confirmation to the U.S. Supreme Court. In an October 16-18 poll published by the Washington Examiner this week, Hawley is beating McCaskill 49 percent to 42 percent.
Project Veritas is known for exposing fraud and misconduct. The organization's founder, James O'Keefe, got his start working alongside Lila Rose, head of pro-life group Live Action, to expose Planned Parenthood.
The video exposé on Planned Parenthood giving money to McCaskill's campaign was the second of a two-part series exposing McCaskill as a staunch leftist disguised as a moderate.
Part one focused on McCaskill's views on regulating firearms and trying to impeach President Trump. O'Keefe argues that McCaskill not only covers up her leftwing political ideals but downplays her party affiliation.
The undercover journalist got campaign staffers talking about their candidate, and one of them claimed, "Obama is campaigning for Democrats, yes. But Obama will not be coming to Missouri, because of how polarizing a figure he is in Missouri."
Ed Martin, president of the Eagle Forum, tells O'Keefe in the video report, "I can tell you that Missouri has not just trended red [meaning Republican], it has trended away from Obama's policies."
A campaign staffer admitted to the undercover journalist that McCaskill has essentially the same views as former President Barack Obama, adding, "Yeah. People just can't know that."
