12-27-19 Welcome to Debased City USA

Welcome to Debased City USA :: By Candy Austin

Welcome to yet another debased city in the USA. Today we will introduce you to the city of Seattle, home to one of the top liberal states in the country, where it rains pretty much non-stop, where the homeless population is out of control, where rent is sky high, and the availability of marijuana is everywhere! What a soulless place to live.
This time last year, our oldest, who has been a prodigal for over 8 years now, decided to up and move to Seattle without telling us. Not like she would tell us because we are that insignificant to her now, but the gall to move 3k miles away with no intention of telling us screams of her ongoing hatred and spite. The nightmare never seems to end.
Excerpts from quora.com: “What Are Some of the Worst Things About Living in Seattle?”
I lived in Seattle from 1980 to 2017. Here is my list of what made a once beautiful and truly livable city now a horrible place to live.
The cost of renting is ridiculously high.
From the air, Seattle is spectacular. On the ground, it’s scary. The homeless population is out of control. Many of the homeless are drug addicts, alcoholics, or just otherwise mentally unstable. I never saw people defecating and copulating on the street until after 2016 or so.
Because of the homeless and the drug problems, property crime is a huge problem.
Seattle also is spiritually one of the most bankrupt and soulless places I’ve encountered. Talk about God in Seattle even at an AA meeting and expect to be met with hostile glares.
So Seattle is becoming more and more faceless, soulless, plastic—suburban with a hipster facade—with each passing month.
Nine months of rain. Three months of showers. Weed. Pot. Herb. Everywhere. As you can see, it is an awful place. Nobody should go there. – Source
As parents it has been disheartening to watch said prodigal through her social media posts make undiscerning moves like this. Even more grieving is to see her make willfully ignorant choices to go against the teachings of the Bible, such as marching in gay pride parades, supporting abortion, the legalization of marijuana, delving into Hinduism by doing demonic yoga poses to satanic deities, and the list goes on!
Excerpts from unitedpatriotnews.com: “Seattle Hires Transgender Stripper to Perform at Homeless Strategy Conference (VIDEO)”
Someone in King County’s Department of Community and Human Services thought it would be a fabulous idea to blow taxpayer money on hiring a transgender stripper to perform at the agency’s annual conference that usually centers around homelessness.
For years, Seattle has claimed that it “needs more resources” to solve homelessness, but as the video shows, they find it totally appropriate to pay for a transgender stripper to grind on members of the region’s homelessness nonprofits and taxpayer-funded organizations.
It’s not a lack of resources that prevents Seattle from solving homelessness; it’s a lack of leadership. According to the Puget Sound Business Journal, King County spends more than $1 billion a year on homelessness programs—but has failed to deliver results for decades.
And you wonder why these west coast cities have descended into chaos? Surprisingly, they didn’t give the bureaucrat a promotion and raise. – Source
Parenting does not get easier; you just get stronger… sort of.  As parents of prodigals after a long period of time of anguishing over them, you finally get to the point where you realize that the most you can do anymore is to pray for them.  Ultimately, they belong to God, and you realize that they were only on ‘loan’ to you, and now you have to ‘give’ them back. If you can get to that realization, it is actually freeing in some ways.  Nonetheless, you still pray for their safety, especially when you hear news like this next excerpt.
Excerpts from seattletimes.com: “Is Seattle’s Homeless Crisis the Worst in the Country?”
If all of this was too long, and you skipped to the end, here are our conclusions:
  1. Counting people experiencing homelessness is messy, and everyone does it differently.
  2. Seattle’s homelessness crisis is, by scale, worse than New York City or Los Angeles’.
  3. However you count it, Seattle, King County and Washington are all in the top 10 when it comes to homelessness. Source
Matthew 24:12 “And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold.”
2 Thessalonians 2:7 “For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only he who now restrains will do so until he is taken out of the way.”
1 John 3:4 “Everyone who practices sin also practices lawlessness; and sin is lawlessness.”
In this day and age where lawlessness abounds, cities like Seattle will only get worse. I have no desire to visit several states in our country for this very reason. When our kids become adults, the onus falls on them to decide moral right and wrong for themselves. Ultimately, we will all stand before God and give an account for how we lived out the lives He gave us.
Either we stand under God’s Grace and Mercy or we step outside of His Divine Will for us and willfully choose open Rebellion and Defiance to Him. The most we can do, the best we can do, the highest good we can do is to Pray for them.
Excerpt from adivineencounter.com: “Prayers for Prodigals”
Dear Heavenly Father, I lift to You my prodigal. Thank You for loving them even more than I do, for watching over them when I can’t, and for working to draw them to Yourself. Even though I can’t see evidence of it, I know You’re pursuing them because that’s the kind of God You are. Please soften their heart towards You. Bring them to the end of themselves, where they’ll find You and me waiting for them. It’s in the name of my Savior, Jesus Christ, that I pray.  Amen. – Source
