As far as humankind as a whole is concerned, only one thing is worthy of the greatness of God’s kingdom: our readiness to die. But unless we prove this readiness in the trivialities of daily life, we shall not be able to muster courage in the critical hour of history. Therefore we must overcome completely all our petty attitudes and feelings, in order to give up all our personal ways of reacting to things, that is, our fear, worry, inner uncertainty – in short, our unbelief. Instead, we need faith: faith small as a tiny seed, but with the same potential to grow. This is what we need, neither more nor less.
