WITH THE beginning of a new Jewish year, Israel’s strategic position has improved dramatically, an indication that Israeli deterrence is working on all fronts and is disrupting its enemies’ war doctrines. This is the bottom line presented in recent weeks by military intelligence’s top echelon to the cabinet. Israel faces security challenges of various levels on six fronts: Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, the Palestinian West Bank, Gaza and Egypt.

Iran slams ‘bloodthirsty’ Israel following Gaza terror tunnel destruction
Iran condemned the “bloodthirsty Zionist regime” of Israel after the IDF destroyed a Hamas terror tunnel on Monday that crossed into Israeli territory. “The blood-thirsty Zionist regime is trying to bend the will of the oppressed people of the occupied territories to guarantee its security by killing Palestinian youths,” said Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Qasemi.

The Iraqi military has said it is preparing to take control of the autonomous Kurdistan Region’s only border crossings with Turkey and Syria. A statement said a delegation had visited the Ibrahim al-Khalil and Fish Khabur posts to determine requirements. Turkish media said troops had already been deployed at Ibrahim al-Khalil.
