Plowshares into Swords! :: By Robert Mandel

At the dedication ceremony for the World Trade Center’s “Twin Towers” in 1973, chief architect Minoru Yamasaki had this to say…
“The World Trade Center is a living symbol of man’s dedication to world peace …the World Trade Center should…become a representation of man’s belief in humanity.” – www.brainyquote.com
Twenty-eight years later, in the most horrific and ironic way, Mr. Yamasaki’s prediction came true…the Twin Towers did indeed become a sobering representation of what happens when men place their faith in themselves!
Now this “living symbol of man’s dedication to world peace” has received a new rebuke. Shipbuilders took 24 tons of scrap steel from the twin towers and used it to construct the bow section of the newly commissioned warship, the “USS New York.” – www.ussnewyork.com
Dear friends, if you listen to this worldall you will hear is lying prophets crying, “peace, peace,’ when there is no peace….” If you trust in “humanity,” you will not see men beating their “swords into plowshares,” but rather beating their “plowshares into swords!” The “USS New York” is a sad testimony to this.
This week, as we all listen to 1,000 remembrances of that terrible day 17 years ago, let us also remember what Godhas to say…
“No one has real understanding…All have turned away from God…They do not know what true peace is” (Romans 3:10-17).
“I am leaving you with a gift – peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give isn’t like the peace the world gives. So don’t be troubled or afraid” (John 14:27).
Only God can bring true peace to this world just as only He can bring true peace to the heart of an individual man or woman. There is only one person He has ever sent to be our peace. Call on Jesus today to give you His peace… ask Him to show you why they call Him “Prince of Peace.”
“Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ” (Romans 5:1).
I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world” (John 16:33).
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:6-7).
“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and of peace there will be no end….” (Isaiah 9:6:7).
“He shall judge between the nations, and shall decide disputes for many peoples; and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning hooks; nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war anymore” (Isaiah 2:4).
God bless you richly!
