Iranian cargo plane suspected of bringing arms to Hezbollah departs Tehran 
A Fars Air Qeshm 747 that left Tehran Sunday morning, landing in Damascus at 10:30 a.m., has been accused in the past of transporting weapons to Hezbollah. Eyewitnesses saw the aircraft land in Damascus. The accusations surfaced in a September Fox News report based on western intelligence assessments. The cargo plane made suspicious flights in July and August to Damascus and Beirut.
Jordanian minister treads on flag, Israeli officials protest 
Jordan’s Information Minister and government spokesperson Jumana Ghunaimat was photographed stepping on an Israeli flag painted on the floor of Amman’s Trade Union Headquarters last week, i24news reported. The Israeli flag on the floor at the entrance shows footprints, and was painted in protest to the normalization of relations with Israel.
Brazil gun laws: Bolsonaro vows to loosen ownership rules
Brazil’s incoming far-right president has said he will seek to issue a decree loosening the country’s gun laws. Jair Bolsonaro, who takes over on 1 January, had made the pledge a key part of his presidential campaign. Brazil currently has strict gun ownership laws, requiring any prospective owners to undergo psychological tests.
Cyber-attack disrupts distribution of multiple US newspapers
Several US newspapers suffered major printing and delivery disruptions on Saturday following a cyber-attack. The attack led to delayed distribution of The Los Angeles Times, Chicago Tribune, Baltimore Sun and other titles belonging to Tribune Publishing. The company said it first detected the malware on Friday, which hit papers sharing the same printing plant.
Putin tells Trump that Moscow is open for dialogue
Russian President Vladimir Putin told his U.S. counterpart Donald Trump in a New Year letter…that Moscow was ready for dialogue on a “wide-ranging agenda”, the Kremlin said following a series of failed attempts to hold a new summit. At the end of November, Trump abruptly canceled a planned meeting with Putin on the sidelines of a G20 summit in Argentina, citing tensions about Russian forces opening fire on Ukrainian navy boats and then seizing them.
Facebook apologizes for banning evangelist Franklin Graham for 24 hours 
Facebook is apologizing to evangelist Franklin Graham for banning him from posting on the site for 24 hours last week, a Facebook spokesperson told The Charlotte Observer on Saturday. It was a mistake to ban Graham over a 2016 post he made on the site, and a mistake to have taken down the post, the spokesperson said.
Doctor exposed to Ebola brought to United States
A U.S. physician who was exposed to Ebola while treating patients in the Democratic Republic of Congo arrived in the United States today and was taken to a secure area at the Nebraska Medical Center. The 39-year-old physician, who isn’t exhibiting symptoms of the deadly virus, was privately transported to the medical center in Omaha, Neb., on Saturday afternoon, officials there confirmed.
GAO: IRS Had 4,487 Guns; 5,062,006 Rounds of Ammunition
The Internal Revenue Service had in its weapons inventory 4,487 guns and 5,062,006 rounds of ammunition as of late 2017, according to a report published this month by the Government Accountability Office. Included in this arsenal, according to the GAO, were 15 “fully automatic firearms” and 56,000 rounds of ammunition for those fully automatic firearms.
