9-22-19 Which Group Do You Belong To?
There are basically three groups of Christians. You're either Hot, Cold, or Lukewarm. The hot Christians are on fire for Christ and his kingdom and are sometimes known as religious fanatics. Every time you see them they are bubbling full of excitement about Jesus and biblical Scripture. They tell everyone they meet about Jesus and what he has done in their life. They always have a smile on their face and a kind word for everyone regardless of how they feel physically, emotionally, or mentally. A complete stranger can meet them and just feel that something is different about them. It's as if they shine an invisible light that gives off warmth and comfort to others. Jesus Christ is the most important person in their life and they have a rich life of prayer and service to him and others.
The cold Christian was hot and then lukewarm at one point in their relationship with Christ but something happened along the road of life and challenged their faith. They never took the time to read his word daily and only prayed when they wanted or needed something from him. Now you never hear them speak about Jesus or even think about him for that matter. Most of the time they are ashamed to even be called a Christian. They don't worry about sinning or repentance and forgiveness. They are for all practical purposes spiritually dead.
The lukewarm Christian accounts for ninety percent of the church today. They are country club Christians. They show up to church once or twice a week to be entertained. Sometimes they carry a bible and might actually open it up and read something in it a great once and awhile. They give money to the church but ignore the homeless, hungry, and needy out in the community. They are stingy with their faith as they never talk about or share it with anyone outside of their church. They pray when they remember to do so and when they need a favor for themselves. They never take a biblical stand on abortion or homosexuality. They sincerely believe that they are a good person and that God will just look over their unrepentant sins. They have the I'm ok, your ok, we're all ok mentality. They never do anything to grow God's kingdom they just exist in silence. They are in fact the spiritually walking dead.
Only one of these groups is traveling down the straight and narrow path that leads to God. The other two are on the broad path to destruction unless they make a u-turn, repent, and return to Christ. The choice is yours. You can be a member of the remnant church or the apostate church. If you are not hot, on fire for Christ, then you are in one of the other two groups. There is no gray area or in-between. Jesus is softly and tenderly calling for you to come back home. Will you answer the door and let him in?
