Whatcha Gonna Do When the Fun Runs Out? :: By Don Twobears

How odd of a question for anyone to ask…am I right? Horrors…the fun is going to end for me? Many have asked that same question and FEW have an answer. And yet, it is a great awakening for them, because, as we all know, everything is temporary here on earth, in this life we are living. The Bible is very specific about this.
2 Corinthians 4:18 “While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.”
So, the “Things which are seen are Temporal.” Does the world run off what is seen or does it not? You already know the answer to that; in the world, everything is seen, felt, or known to some degree and we rely on that every minute of every day. And though we accept that, we still have accidents, sudden events that take us by surprise, something we usually did not see coming.
Now there are times that we know could be a calamity, but we think we can slip right on by, you know, those calculated risks. You remember thinking to yourself, “Boy…if I don’t get this absolutely correct, I could be in a lot of trouble!” Sort of like, walking a tightrope across the Grand Canyon, if you get my drift. For me, not one of the best ideas to have, but then, there are some that will try it.
So as we think on this, we all see that this life is indeed Temporary. There are some of us that take the time to ponder these things and choose to worry about Eternity more than this life. But what of the majority of people in this life? Do they think and ponder on these things? The simple answer is NO!
Somehow and for some reason, they think bad things happen to others and never them. Is that a slippery slope or what? The thing is, it does not matter what your idea of fun is, one day that fun will end just like everything else in this life. “All good things must come to an end,” as the saying goes. So why do so many people fail to consider that? Why must the fun end one day? The Lord God designed this life we are living to be temporary. His ultimate design is to bring us to HIM and to live Eternity out in Heaven.
Eventually, the day or night runs out, or the money runs out, or the people leave. Suddenly, you’re all by yourself and wondering “What happened?!” And you were not prepared for that big sense of loss; but here it is, and you are wondering what to do next. Come on y’all; we have seen this plenty of times. As long as you foot the bill, or until the food and drink run out, everyone is your best buddy! Can I get an Amen on this?! And yet, as you may notice, the fun has stopped. So does this mean that Fun is temporary?
Besides that, having Fun is a lot of work as well, and it is not always that enjoyable either. There is always a part of it that becomes a real drag, if you will. Maybe you remember that super-duper Vacation you had, but the airports were so busy, people shoving and pushing everywhere. Or maybe it was the high humidity at the resort or on the ship. So many things that seem to try and rob you of your fun. Let’s not forget, that you were so obsessed with having fun, you had to come home to have a rest from your vacation! How crazy is that y’all? And so, we find that this ends as well; it’s Temporary!
It begs the question, why should we spend so much on something that never lasts? Wouldn’t you rather have something that’s going to be long-lasting, enjoyable over and over again? We would rather not remember the work and toil…right? The Bible tells us this:
Matthew 11:28-30 “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”
If this life is temporary, then that means Eternity is permanent. It is forever! And how does it work for you, to have the ultimate Rest? Stop and think for a moment; doesn’t the ultimate rest require the ultimate in comfort as well? Is this what the Holy Word of God means? You know it does!
You take a vacation, or suppose it is to be, to rest! To rest from all those work days, to recuperate, to renew those batteries, if you will. We all go on vacation to have fun, am I correct? As a matter of fact, vacations have become big business…right? And they are very expensive to boot, but then, we feel we deserve it! Again, my Friends, all things must come to an end…so what are you going to do then?
Hebrews 9:27 “And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment.”
There’s your answer to whether or not life is temporary. In other words, y’all…you get one shot at life! Is it really that difficult to understand? A wise man knows how to learn, right? Just remember this: you are the one that chooses where…you want to spend Eternity! Therefore, the greatest amount of consideration should be provided to that end! I am Heaven-bound…How about you?
It is not a stretch for us to want the very best for ourselves, am I correct? So why have so many not taken the time to consider their Eternal Life, which is going to follow this life?! Each and every one of us already knows, this life ends one day, for everyone. All that have ever been born on this planet Earth die one day! Having stated that, what about our Eternity? Where is our final home?
Just so you clearly understand, YOU must choose that…for just YOU. It will be with Jesus Christ in Heaven…or Satan in hell. And should you think you can be sly and not give an answer…well, no answer is a ticket to hell, because you chose NOT to accept Jesus Christ! See there? A choice must be made…by YOU. And again, please remember this, “NO Jesus Christ…NO Heaven!!
John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
