2-21-21 The Glory of the Lord

The Glory of the Lord :: By Candy Austin Published on: August 25, 2020 by RRadmin7 Category:General Articles The LORD of Glory, the God of Glory, the Father of Glory: (1 Corinthians 2:8, Psalm 29:1, Acts 7:2, Ephesians 1:17, James 2:1). When we think of the word glory, some may think of splendidly arrayed clouds and shining rays of light over the horizon; others may perceive the Splendor, Majesty, Holiness, and Beauty of God’s Infinite Character! Another image could be the expanse over the earth, the skies, the clouds, the heavens at sunrise and sunset! For some, God’s Glory may be revealed in a majestic, beautiful, and awe-inspiring scenery throughout various parts of the world that just takes their breath away! Not to mention the waters that cover the earth, the Milky Way and galaxies that are beyond the blue, and the intrinsic beauty and ‘yet to be discovered mysteries’ of many creatures and animals in this world that God has created! All tend to reflect the LORD of Glory in one way or another! 1 Corinthians 2:8 “Which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known it, they would not have crucified the LORD of glory.” Scripture tells us that God dwells in ‘unapproachable light.’ It is so consuming that we are unable to stand up in the face of it; therefore, every knee shall bow whether believer or unbeliever. This is inevitable. Every tongue will confess that Jesus is Lord whether believer or unbeliever as well! People who deny the Lord of Glory are only wasting their time and ultimately their life because, on that final day, they will be unable to deny Him once they are in His Unspeakable and Glorious Presence! Behold, Christ Jesus, the LORD of Glory! 1 Timothy 6:16 “Who only hath immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto; whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom be honour and power everlasting. Amen.” In our limited and finite state, it is hard for us to comprehend or fully understand what the Glory of the LORD really looks like. Insight tells us that it is a weighty, major, and significant matter, and one that we would do well in acknowledging and taking notice! No authority or power in this world or in the spiritual realm can even try to ‘remotely compete’ with the splendor, might, and glory of Almighty God, the LORD of Glory! Once again, this concept escapes our comprehension and grasp, but it is still all too real for one to even try to deny or ignore! Deep down, we all know that one day we will be in the presence of this fascinating reality! Thankfully, in God’s Love Letter to us, the Bible, His very words, we have some description of God’s Glory written down and recorded by certain prophets and apostles for us to try to digest! Even the most ‘gifted artist’ could not fully or even accurately portray these visions and revelations of the LORD of Glory, no matter how talented they may be, and no matter how hard they may try! Let us, therefore, read these Biblical accounts and let these anointed words speak for themselves: Moses Beholding God’s Glory as He Passed By: Exodus 33:18-23 “And he [Moses] said, I beseech thee, shew me thy glory. “And he [the Lord] said, I will make all my goodness pass before thee, and I will proclaim the name of the LORD before thee; and will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will shew mercy on whom I will shew mercy. And he said, Thou canst not see my face: for there shall no man see me, and live. And the LORD said, Behold, there is a place by me, and thou shalt stand upon a rock: And it shall come to pass, while my glory passeth by, that I will put thee in a clift of the rock, and will cover thee with my hand while I pass by: And I will take away mine hand, and thou shalt see my back parts: but my face shall not be seen.” Isaiah’s Vision of the Glory of God: Isaiah 6:1-5 “In the year that king Uzziah died I saw also the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and his train filled the temple. Above it stood the seraphims: each one had six wings; with twain he covered his face, and with twain he covered his feet, and with twain he did fly. And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is the LORD of hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory. And the posts of the door moved at the voice of him that cried, and the house was filled with smoke. “Then said I, Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for mine eyes have seen the King, the LORD of hosts.” Ezekiel’s Vision of God’s Glory: Ezekiel 1:26-28 “And above the firmament that was over their heads was the likeness of a throne, as the appearance of a sapphire stone: and upon the likeness of the throne was the likeness as the appearance of a man above upon it. And I saw as the colour of amber, as the appearance of fire round about within it, from the appearance of his loins even upward, and from the appearance of his loins even downward, I saw as it were the appearance of fire, and it had brightness round about. As the appearance of the bow that is in the cloud in the day of rain, so was the appearance of the brightness round about. This was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the Lord. And when I saw it, I fell upon my face, and I heard a voice of one that spake.” Paul’s Revelation of the Lord: 2 Corinthians 12:1-4 “It is not expedient for me doubtless to glory. I will come to visions and revelations of the Lord. I knew a man in Christ above fourteen years ago, (whether in the body, I cannot tell; or whether out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;) such an one caught up to the third heaven. And I knew such a man (whether in the body, or out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;) How that he was caught up into paradise, and heard unspeakable words, which it is not lawful for a man to utter.” John’s Vision of Jesus in Revelation: Revelation 1:12-18 “And I turned to see the voice that spake with me. And being turned, I saw seven golden candlesticks; And in the midst of the seven candlesticks one like unto the Son of man, clothed with a garment down to the foot, and girt about the paps with a golden girdle. His head and his hairs were white like wool, as white as snow; and his eyes were as a flame of fire; And his feet like unto fine brass, as if they burned in a furnace; and his voice as the sound of many waters. “And he had in his right hand seven stars: and out of his mouth went a sharp twoedged sword: and his countenance was as the sun shineth in his strength. And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me, Fear not; I am the first and the last: I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.” Even though we do not have the capacity to visualize or comprehend the fullness of God’s Glory, we do have the gift of God’s Holy Word and the gift of His Holy Spirit living inside of us; therefore, we can know in part! The revelation that has been made to us is that Jesus IS the LORD of Glory! Yes, the One True God, our very Redeemer, Savior, Master, King, and Friend! For now, we all walk by Faith and not by Sight; and since we are Saved by Grace through Faith, we can ‘see through our spiritual eyes and get to know’ the LORD of Glory through our personal relationship with Him! Beauty upon unspeakable beauty is Christ Jesus the LORD of Glory! From gotquestions.org: “What is a glory cloud?” God has displayed His glory in a thousand ways (Psalm 19:1), the foremost being the Person of His Son. Jesus stated that to see and know Him is to see the glory of God. He told His followers in John 11:40, “Did I not tell you that if you believe, you will see the glory of God?” He also said, “Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father” (John 14:9). He has given His children the Holy Spirit, which means we carry the glory of God with us everywhere we go (1 Corinthians 6:19; 2 Corinthians 5:5). Although the Lord God can manifest any way He chooses to, He does not need a glittery cloud to communicate His presence to those who have received His offer of salvation. We do not seek a sign (Matthew 16:4). We can enjoy His presence every moment of every day as we surrender to Him and choose to walk in the Spirit (Galatians 5:16, 25). – Source Therefore, give God all the glory! Honor Him with your life and all that He has given you! We do this by obeying and submitting to His Sovereignty and Grace! Also by sharing Christ Jesus with others everywhere we go, whether through Gospel Tracts or by talking to them in person! Give the Gift of Jesus to everyone you care about and Love the LORD your God with all your heart, mind, soul, and strength! All Honor, Glory, Power, and Praise goes to the LORD of Glory, forever and ever, Amen! Until next time… Maranatha! (JESUS = THE WAY, THE TRUTH, & THE LIFE!)
