The Right Kind of Sorrow Henry Drummond There is a vast difference between divine and human sorrow. True contrition occurs when God turns and looks upon us. Human sorrow is us turning and looking upon ourselves. True, there is nothing wrong in turning and looking at oneself – only there is a danger. We can miss the most authentic experience of life in the imitation. For genuine repentance consists of feeling deeply our human helplessness, of knowing how God comes to us when we are completely broken. Source: Bread and Wine

4-28-22 Daily Prayer

Daily Prayer for April 28 Christoph Friedrich Blumhardt You make known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand. Psalm 16:11, NIV Dear Father in heaven, you show us the way of life; in your presence is fullness of joy, and at your right hand is delight forever. In your presence we want to rejoice together as your children, under your protection. May we become firm in every part of our life on earth. Grant that soon something of your kingdom, of your heaven, may encircle us like a blessing, enabling us to fight on in joy and exultation. We entrust ourselves to you, our faithful and loving God, and we thank you. Amen.

4-28-22 Today in the Word

Our God Reigns Thursday, April 28 | Jeremiah 49:1–6 On the Go? Listen to Today's Devotional In one Avengers movie, the Hulk (a good guy) battles Loki (a bad guy). Loki shouts, “Enough!...I am a god, you dull creature,” but the Hulk slams him to the ground anyway. As he walks away, the Hulk smiles and mutters, “Puny god.” He had a point. If Loki could be manhandled, he wasn’t much of a “god.” The same thing happens to the Ammonite god Molek. Like the Moabites, the Ammonites descended from Lot, Abraham’s nephew. Both nations were conquered by Babylon in 582 B.C. At that time, Israel repossessed land taken from them by the Ammonites (vv. 1–2). Both of Jeremiah’s prophecies about these two nations end with the hope of restoration (v. 6). The Ammonite god Molek is a virtual synonym for evil, due in part to that religion’s heinous practice of child sacrifice. The worship of Molek was singled out in the Law for the death penalty (Lev. 20:1–5). When conquered by the Babylonians, Molek a...

Pursuing the Lord Seeking God isn't about following rules; it's about enjoying His presence. April 28, 2022 Psalm 119:1-8 We all have ambitions and desires, but as believers, we should weigh them against God’s Word. As important as our earthly pursuits, responsibilities, and relationships may be, they cannot compare to the value of a life spent seeking our heavenly Father. What does it mean to seek God? The phrase describes a wholehearted effort to know the Father and follow Him more closely. Those who pursue this kind of fellowship with God are determined to spend time with Him. They also want to forsake anything that could hinder growth in their relationship with the Lord. God’s committed followers claim His promises and trust Him to fulfill His Word. Their experiences with the Lord bring amazing satisfaction yet cause them to hunger for more of Him. The Christian life is meant to be an ongoing pursuit of God. To walk through the door of salvation and stand still, withou...

4-28-22 Flash Points 2022: Ukraine, Russia, & the Primakov Doctrine

Flash Points 2022: Ukraine, Russia, & the Primakov Doctrine - By Matt Ward - https://www.raptureready.com/2022/01/23/they-dont-see-it-coming-by-daymond-duck/ The United States of America is no longer the undisputed hegemon of the Middle East. It is Russia, at the dawn of 2022, that is now the indispensable power in that region. Over the last decade, Russia’s political, economic and diplomatic footprint has expanded rapidly while that of the West has receded and is now deteriorating fast. Russia’s return to the international community as an important global actor is no new phenomenon. It has been planned. For decades, Moscow’s foreign policy has been predicated upon Russia once again assuming the standing of a recognized, world-leading nation. Yet it has only been after the opportunities presented by the Arab Spring that those grandiose plans have moved towards fulfillment. Since the Arab Spring, it has become increasingly apparent just how far-reaching and wide those Russian am...

4-28-22 Hold Your Ground

Daily Devotion: Hold Your Ground - by Greg Laurie – www.harvest.org Others were tortured, not accepting deliverance, that they might obtain a better resurrection. —Hebrews 11:35 https://harvest.org/resources/devotion/hold-your-ground/ - Listen What group suffers the most persecution in the world today? Christians do. We know that our brothers and sisters in Christ living in nations like China, North Korea, and certain Islamic countries are suffering because their governments don’t allow them to practice their faith. Religious groups around the world experience persecution, but Christians are the most frequent targets of persecution. Studies on the topic have borne this out. The Bible does say, however, that “all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution” (2 Timothy 3:12 NKJV). That isn’t a promise we usually want to claim, is it? After all, who wants to experience persecution? Who wants people to jeer, mock, or laughed at them? Maybe you’ve had this h...

4-28-22 The difficult journey ahead

Daily Jot: The difficult journey ahead - Bill Wilson – www.dailyjot.com The pandemic emergency in which American citizens ceded their civil rights to government mandates and lockdowns must end now. Enough damage has been inflicted upon individuals, businesses and the economy by the government, big pharma, a propaganda media machine, divisive politicians and Supreme Court justices that are so out of touch they can’t even accurately cite their own government’s statistics. Delta is receding. Omicron is mild and is providing immunity. It’s time for the government and the leftist politicians to put away their harmful and hateful fear-mongering agendas, and do the right thing: End the pandemic emergency and focus on responding to the aftermath of the crisis they created. There is going to be much to fix. The economy, ransacked by reckless and ill-advised leftist policies, must be addressed. The aftermath of lockdowns, outrageous deficit spending, irresponsible imaginations about green en...

Overweight and Undernourished - By Hal Lindsey - https://www.raptureready.com/2022/01/23/they-dont-see-it-coming-by-daymond-duck/ A nutritional paradox fills our world. Vast numbers of people are obese and malnourished at the same time. It has to do with the kinds of food most readily available. Many of those foods have lots of calories, but not much nutritional value. Experts give many reasons for the problem as well as some possible answers. A 2019 NPR article suggested that governments should provide more funding for “women farmers to create value-added products.” Apparently, they don’t believe male farmers have the gift of raising nutritionally rich foods. When God presented this problem to the Children of Israel, He gave them a different solution. He said, “Consider your ways!” Cyrus the Great allowed almost 50,000 Judeans to return to Jerusalem from their Babylonian captivity. They began rebuilding the temple, but for a variety of reasons, halted the work. Over time, they...

Don’t Run and Rush Edith Stein The duties and cares of the day crowd about us when we awake each day – if they have not already dispelled our night’s rest. How can everything be accommodated in one day? When will I do this, when that? How will it all be accomplished? Thus agitated, we are tempted to run and rush. And so we must take the reins in hand and remind ourselves, “Let go of your plans. The first hour of your morning belongs to God. Tackle the day’s work that he charges you with, and he will give you the power to accomplish it.” Source: Essays on Woman

4-27-22 Daily Prayer

Daily Prayer for April 27 Christoph Friedrich Blumhardt You answered me when I called to you; with your strength you strengthened me. Psalm 138:3, TEV Dear Father in heaven, we thank you that we are your children and that your eyes watch over us and see all that is in our hearts. You hear the request of each heart, and you will answer at the right time. Stretch out your strong hand to us, for we are weak and often heavy-hearted, not knowing what to do nor how to find you. But you are with us in every need in spite of all our faults and shortcomings. You are with us; you lead us through everything to our life’s true goal, until each of us can rejoice over all you have done, to the praise of your name, our Father. Amen.

4-27-22 Today in the Word

Arrogance and Boasting Wednesday, April 27 | Jeremiah 48:1–9 On the Go? Listen to Today's Devotional If you visit the British Museum in London, you can see an archaeological artifact significant to today’s reading. The Mesha Stele, also known as the Moabite Stone, was discovered in 1868. The stone dates from about 840 B.C. and celebrates King Mesha of Moab’s victories over King Omri of Israel (1 Kings 16:23 28). It also contains the earliest known extrabiblical reference to the Hebrew name of God, YHWH. Today’s prophecies focus on two nations, Philistia (Jeremiah 47) and Moab (Jeremiah 48). The Philistines had been longtime enemies of Israel, mentioned throughout the Old Testament. They were conquered by Babylon in 604 B.C. The Moabites descended from Lot, the nephew of Abraham (see Gen. 19:36–38). Moab was conquered by Babylon in 582 B.C. The graphic pictures of death, destruction, and exile can help us imagine what the siege, conquest, and burning of Jerusalem must have been l...

Walking With God in Dark Times Dark, challenging times are never wasted when you follow the Lord. April 27, 2022 Genesis 39 Yesterday, we discussed Joseph’s faith. Today we’ll look at some principles that guided him during challenging moments in his life. Dark times may continue until God’s purpose is accomplished. The Lord’s plan was to prepare Joseph to rescue his family, as well as the nation of Egypt, from famine. But first, God placed Joseph in the role of a servant, where he earned credibility with Egyptian leaders. Then, it was in prison that the Lord “extended kindness” (Gen. 39:21), positioning him to interpret Pharaoh’s dream. Through these difficult situations, Joseph was chosen by Pharaoh to lead Egypt and save the nation from famine as God planned. We learn in both the dark and the light. Besides discovering God’s faithfulness, Joseph learned to handle high and low positions, to say no to temptation, and to discern God’s presence. What we learn in the darkness, we’r...

4-27-22 Filling the Cup of Wrath

Filling the Cup of Wrath - By Terry James - https://www.raptureready.com/2022/01/23/they-dont-see-it-coming-by-daymond-duck/ When looking upon the cultural and societal horizon, it’s hard to avoid the questions: How did things get this way so quickly? Where is it all taking us? When will we reach that destination? My thoughts include the query: How very confusing and troubling—even terrifying—must it be to those who don’t have Bible prophecy as a basis for pondering all of these things? But then comes the reality of the human condition. It is obvious that the great majority of humanity moves through life without paying much attention to matters engulfing them, except and until their lives collide with calamitous circumstances. I’m referring to such circumstances as the so-called pandemic and its many variations. Humanity, at such time, accepts wholeheartedly, even clamors for, such things as unproven, experimental vaccines. Christians join the majority of humanity who doesn’t giv...

4-27-22 We Are Being Warned That A Horrifying STOCK MARKET CRASH Which Could Wipe Out Trillions Has Now Begun

We Are Being Warned That A Horrifying STOCK MARKET CRASH Which Could Wipe Out Trillions Has Now Begun - by Michael Snyder - https://www.raptureready.com/2022/01/23/they-dont-see-it-coming-by-daymond-duck/ What would our country look like if an epic market crash suddenly wiped out 35 trillion dollars in financial wealth? You may not want to think about something so horrible, but we are being warned that it could soon happen. Stock prices have been falling for three weeks in a row, and last week was the worst week for U.S. stocks in a really, really long time. The S&P 500 is now down more than 8 percent from the peak of the market, and the tech-heavy Nasdaq is already in correction territory. At this point, the Nasdaq is off to its worst beginning to a year in decades, and many are extremely concerned about what is coming next. In fact, Bank of America is warning that all hell breaks loose if the Nasdaq closes below 14,000. Hopefully that won’t happen this week. But it might. ...

4-27-22 They Don’t See It Coming

They Don’t See It Coming - By Daymond Duck - https://www.raptureready.com/2022/01/23/they-dont-see-it-coming-by-daymond-duck/ In an interview on Dec. 17, 2021, Vice Pres. Kamala Harris said, “We didn’t see Delta coming…. We didn’t see Omicron coming.” A few days after that, a reporter asked Biden, “How did you get it wrong?” Biden laughed and replied, “Nobody saw it coming. Nobody in the whole world. Who saw it coming?” When the Biden administration stopped construction on the border wall between the U.S. and Mexico and started talking about giving immigrants free healthcare, a free education, etc., they didn’t see an immigration crisis coming. When the Biden administration stopped construction on the Keystone Pipeline and drilling for oil on some government land, etc., they didn’t see inflation, high gasoline prices, and high food prices coming. When they quickly pulled America’s troops out of Afghanistan, U.S. citizens were abandoned, U.S. troops were killed, etc., but they d...

4-27-22 Revival Or Rapture?

Revival Or Rapture? :: By Jonathan Brentner Published on: January 23, 2022 by RRadmin7 Category:General Articles Is this it? Are we at the end of human history as we know it? Is the Rapture next on God’s prophetic calendar? Or are we about to see a worldwide revival that will halt the world’s seemingly unstoppable path to the kingdom of the antichrist? A song written and sung by Kari Jobe, Amen (Simple Gospel), affirms the later reality. The song contains these lyrics that point to the church as our hope in this current age: “The church will arise / With power and love / Our cities will know / The glory of God / The future is bright / There’s nothing to fear / Revival is now / The Kingdom is here.” The words to Jobe’s song sound wonderful on the surface, but does the Bible teach that the church will triumph over the current forces of darkness actively at work everywhere we look? No, it does not. Nor does it tell us that the future will be “bright” for planet Earth apart from the ...
