The Way Is Simple Kathleen Hamilton Christ’s will was, and is, to unite. Think how he wept over Jerusalem! Or think of his prayer, “That they all might be one” – so much so that they are one living organism – his body, animated by his spirit. Christ said, “I am the Way”…Modern life is so complicated and torn, so distracting and disintegrating, whereas the Way is simple, light, and straight. It unifies the whole of life. 10-31-21 Daily Prayer

Daily Prayer for October 31 Christoph Friedrich Blumhardt Let those who fear the Lord say: "His love endures forever." When hard pressed, I cried to the Lord; he brought me into a spacious place. The Lord is with me; I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me? Psalm 118:4–6, NIV Lord our God, dear Father in heaven, we thank you. How often you rescue us from all fear and distress! How often you hear and answer us! Grant that our hearts may always be eager and joyful because you answer us. There is nothing else for us in this world; you are our one hope, our only hope. You alone can help our times, help the nations, help each person. Nothing else matters to us. Lord our God, for the rest of our life on earth you alone are our help, our comfort, and our strength. Amen.

10-31-21 Today in the Word

A Faithful Servant Sunday, October 31 | Hebrews 3:1–6 On the Go? Listen to Today's Devotional The central theme of the book of Hebrews is the superiority, excellence, and perfection of Christ. We don’t know who wrote this epistle, but the audience seems to have been Christians being persecuted during the reign of Nero. They needed encouragement to persevere and hold fast to their faith in Jesus as the Messiah and Son of God. We hope you’ve benefited from this month’s study of the life of Moses, but we need to conclude by putting Moses in his proper place. He was a faithful servant in God’s house, but he was not the Son. He was a “man of God” but only Christ is God! Moses would be the first to agree. Today’s reading puts Moses and Christ side by side for comparison. Both were faithful (v. 2), but Moses was faithful as a servant while Jesus was faithful as the Son (vv. 5–6; see Num. 12:7). Moses served the nation of Israel well as leader and Lawgiver, but God was the builder of the...

10-31-21 Daily Devotion

October 31, 2021 Sunday Reflection: Expanding Your Family To get the most out of this devotion, set aside time to read the Scripture referenced throughout. Family can be complicated—we can’t choose the one we’re born into or control how it evolves. So though we hope for the best, not everyone can depend on family for support, and those without it are left vulnerable. Some believers might be tempted to shame or judge broken families, but our job is not to determine whether a person deserves our compassion—only God is judge (James 4:12). Instead, we are simply to be compassionate and remain humble about our own circumstances. If God’s love is truly in our heart, we can—like the Good Samaritan—move beyond judgments and draw near to fully understand someone’s story (Luke 10:33). Then the love will follow (1 John 4:7). God’s Word is full of commands to care for widows and orphans because He believes everyone belongs. Let’s watch for people going through life alone—and offer them the love...

10-30-21 THE VACCINE-CANCER ATROCITY

THE VACCINE-CANCER ATROCITY: Like clockwork, most vaccinated Americans will lose immune function by Christmas and start growing accelerated CANCER tumors that will kill them over the next ten years The elephant in the room with covid vaccines is not merely that they are erasing the immune systems of those who take the jabs, but that the destruction of immune function will lead to an unprecedented acceleration in cancer tumor growth that will overwhelm the medical system and kill tens of millions over the next decade. The vaccine holocaust, it seems, is going to be felt as a “cancer tsunami” that will somehow be blamed on everything else except vaccines. From 1999 – 2019, cancer death rates plunged from 200 per 100,000 population to 146 per 100,000 population. (Source: CDC.gov) For all of 2019, there were almost 600,000 cancer deaths reported in the United States. The CDC has not yet published data for 2020. Data from 2021 will be published in 2023, and data from 2022 will be publi...

Get Away from Words Albert Camus What the world expects of Christians is that they should speak out, loud and clear; that they should voice their convictions in such a way that not even the slightest doubt could arise in the heart of the simplest person. And more: that they should get away from words and abstractions and confront in their deeds the bloodstained face of history. Source: Camus

Meeting the Messiah Saturday, October 30 | Luke 9:28–36 If you could go back in time and meet any person in history, who would it be? Jesus, of course! But who else? Among biblical characters, I’d love to meet the prophet, Ezekiel. Outside the pages of Scripture, I would choose to meet the poet John Milton, author of Paradise Lost. On the Mount of Transfiguration (likely Mount Hermon), two characters from biblical history were chosen to meet the Messiah. One represented the prophets—Elijah— and one represented the Law—Moses (see Mal. 4:4–6). Jesus had gone up the mountain to pray, taking with Him His inner circle of Peter, James, and John. Suddenly, His glory as the Son of God was revealed in an overpowering outpouring of light and splendor. Moses and Elijah appeared and talked with Jesus (vv. 30–31). About what? “His departure, which he was about to bring to fulfillment at Jerusalem.” The Greek word for “departure” here is “exodos”—yes, as in Moses and the exodus! This expression ...

October 30, 2021 Remembering God’s Goodness Joshua 3:14-17, Joshua 4:1-17 Have you ever heard a song that you hadn’t listened to in years? It’s amazing how well we can recall lyrics a long time later, and yet we so easily forget God’s goodness to us. Today’s verses offer a good example for us to follow. God brought the Israelites out of Egypt and safely through the Red Sea. Then He miraculously provided yet another dry path by stacking the Jordan’s waters in an enormous heap upstream. The people were about to enter Jericho, and by God’s power, they would overcome the city. How compassionate to encourage them with a tangible illustration of His strength before such a battle! But God also knew how easily they had forgotten Him before. So in His love, He had a plan to help the Israelites remember the miracle at the river. He told them to create an altar of 12 stones, each representing a tribe of Israel that had safely passed through the waters. This way, they would have a tangible rem...

10-30-21 An Unlimited Shelf Life

Daily Devotion: An Unlimited Shelf Life - by Greg Laurie – www.harvest.org I will bless those who bless you, and I will curse him who curses you; and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed. —Genesis 12:3 https://harvest.org/resources/devotion/an-unlimited-shelf-life/ - Listen Have you’ve ever eaten something and then realized that it had gone beyond its shelf life? That isn’t a happy experience, is it? I’m glad there isn’t a predetermined shelf life for the promises of God. When God makes a promise or when He establishes a covenant, He keeps it. God established a covenant with Israel through their father, Abraham. He said, “I will make you a great nation; I will bless you and make your name great; and you shall be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and I will curse him who curses you; and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed” (Genesis 12:2–3 NKJV). Also, in Romans 9–11 we read about God’s special relationship with Israel. Thus, anyon...

10-30-21 Great and Precious Promises

Daily Devotion: Great and Precious Promises - by Greg Laurie – www.harvest.org And because of his glory and excellence, he has given us great and precious promises. These are the promises that enable you to share his divine nature and escape the world’s corruption caused by human desires —2 Peter 1:4 https://harvest.org/resources/devotion/great-and-precious-promises/ - Listen Every year $5.8 billion in gift cards goes unclaimed. That’s a pretty good deal for the sellers, by the way. It reminds me a little of the promises of God. All too often, we neglect to claim them. Yet God has made a lot of promises to us in the Bible. In fact, 2 Peter 1:4 describes them as “great and precious promises” (NLT). For example, God has promised that we will never be alone in life. Sometimes you may feel as though you’re all alone, but you’re not alone if Jesus Christ is in your heart. Hebrews 13:5 tells us, “For God has said, ‘I will never fail you. I will never abandon you’” (NLT). In Isaia...

10-29-21 Daily Dig

In the Thick of Foes E. J. Hutchinson There are not, then, two levels to the Christian life; there is, in the end, only one: a life lived in radical union with and dependence upon Christ, the living and righteous Word, for our justification, righteousness, and life. But this one life can take on manifold forms. Whether we live as members of a formal community, or whether we simply seek to love each other well as members of a congregation, we are able to live together as members of Christ’s body in our particular circumstances when we understand that our unity is not an aspiration or a project for human ingenuity, nor is it achieved by extraordinary spiritual heroism. It is, moreover, not a unity that takes us out of the world into a separate society. Instead, it is, as are all things, the gift of God in Christ, to be received and lived out with gratitude in the midst of, and for the good of, that world.

10-29-21 Today in the Word

A Prayer of Moses Friday, October 29 | Psalm 90 On the Go? Listen to Today's Devotional The shortest amount of time ever recorded is one-trillionth of a billionth of a second, or a “zeptosecond.” Scientists discovered this measure when they wanted to see how long it took for a single particle of light to cross a hydrogen molecule. (The answer: 247 zeptoseconds.) To Moses, life seemed as fleeting as a zeptosecond. Humans typically live to be “seventy years, or eighty, if our strength endures” (v. 10). Psalm 90, written by Moses, begins with the worshipful observation that God is everlasting. He is our “dwelling place” (vv. 1–6). This phrase means home or refuge and is particularly meaningful considering the many years Israel wandered in the wilderness. Moses observes that when we sin, God is righteously angry (vv. 7–12). Moses saw a lot of that during his ministry! This fact—our sins cannot be hidden—undercuts our temptation to pride. We cannot depend on ourselves in the slightes...

10-29-21 Daily Devotion

October 29, 2021 A Yielded Life James 4:7-10 One of the hardest things for us to bear is not having control over our own circumstances. But as Christians, this is exactly how we are called to live. Jesus made this very clear when He said we must deny ourselves and lose our life for His sake (Luke 9:23-24). He is now our Lord and Master, and we no longer have the right to rule over ourselves. However, we have no cause for fear because God is an infinitely good, wise, and loving ruler. Furthermore, left to ourselves, we will make foolish mistakes and unwise decisions. That’s why we should delight in submitting to the Lord, trusting Him to control every aspect of our life. Yielding ourselves to the Lord is a two-part process. Submission to Him necessitates resisting the devil. And drawing near to God requires turning from sin, purifying our hearts, and cleansing our behavior. If any of these factors are lacking, then we haven’t truly submitted to the Lord as He desires but are trying...

10-29-21 Jealous In A Good Way

Daily Devotion: Jealous In A Good Way - by Greg Laurie – www.harvest.org Did God’s people stumble and fall beyond recovery? Of course not! They were disobedient, so God made salvation available to the Gentiles. But he wanted his own people to become jealous and claim it for themselves. —Romans 11:11 https://harvest.org/resources/devotion/jealous-in-a-good-way/ - Listen On a trip to Israel some years ago, I had a Jewish guide named David. He had been our guide quite often over the years, and we had become very good friends. But David loved to debate. So we’d sit in the front of the bus and discuss all sorts of things, including Jesus and the Jewish people. Yet I never seemed to make any headway with David. One day one of our discussions went for almost an hour, and when we got off the bus, the driver said to me, “I was listening very carefully to your discussion with the guide, David.” Then he said, “I’m jealous of your relationship with God. I would like you to come over to my ...

10-29-21 Stupidocrisy: A nation in crisis

Daily Jot: Stupidocrisy: A nation in crisis - Bill Wilson – www.dailyjot.com You know things have turned upside-down when…Rioters in the Northwest are occupying police stations, making parts of cities war zones, burning and looting businesses and are encouraged to do so by leftist politicians, including the current Vice President of the United States. At the same time people who are standing up in school board meetings to challenge a Marxist curriculum and mask and vaccine mandates for children who are not at risk are now being monitored by the FBI as possible domestic terrorists—this, at the request of the respective associations for school principals and school boards. This signals that it is OK to break the law by burning buildings, but it’s not OK to question the people you elected. You know things have turned upside-down when…the federal government is jack-booting employers into mandating that every employee be vaccinated or lose their job. At the same time, the federal govern...

10-29-21 Past Repentance

Past Repentance :: By Grant Phillips Published on: October 6, 2021 by RRadmin7 Category:General Articles, Grant Phillips I can’t think of anything more bone-chillingly terrifying than being past repentance with almighty God, that point where the person’s heart is so stone-cold hard, they will not listen to the call of God’s Spirit. Unfortunately, there are those who have said “No” so many times, it has gotten easier and easier until it eventually reached the point of zero interest in God or anything associated with Him. They have advanced to the point of hatred and total indifference toward God. Can these folks be saved? Yes, but God is not going to drag them across Heaven’s threshold. Even though His desire is that everyone be saved, He will not override the free will of anyone. He will provide every opportunity possible, but the Lord is respectful of anyone’s decision to refuse His invitation to be saved through Jesus Christ. God chooses hell for no one. Man chooses hell for himself...

10-29-21 New government data exposes alarming deficiencies in fight against COVID

Daily Jot: New government data exposes alarming deficiencies in fight against COVID - Bill Wilson – www.dailyjot.com A Daily Jot investigation of the federal government’s official COVID 19 data clearly demonstrates that COVID 19 vaccine efficacy rapidly declines, vaccination breakthroughs are causing a majority of COVID 19 cases and hospitalizations, and there are significant numbers of deaths among the vaccinated aged 65+. Data from three government agencies clearly contradicts claims that the pandemic continues solely because of the unvaccinated. These alarming findings should signal to the government, politicians and the medical community that a new approach must be taken to fight this disease as the current paradigm has diminishing results. The media’s failure to report the reality of these official statistics is irresponsible. The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) reports that 84.5% of all Medicare/Medicaid Certified Long Term Care Facilities residents are vac...
