12-9-18 Seated

Seated :: By Paul Kocourek

“But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus: That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus” (Eph 2:4-7).
Our salvation is SO sure, certain and guaranteed, God sees us as ALREADY seated in Heaven. That means in no way can we lose our salvation, not when, as far as God is concerned, we’re already seated there in Heaven with Him.
A further thought: why are we SEATED instead of standing?
When royalty sits, all lesser ranks stand. Yet, we are seen as seated. That means, we as children of God are royalty too, children of the King.
“Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not. Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is. And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure” (1 John 3:1-3).
But, it goes even beyond that.
When a king sits on his throne, his queen sits beside him.
Jesus is King of kings, and the Church is His beloved Bride, His Wife, His Queen, if you like, and we will reign beside Him for all eternity.
“For I am jealous for you with a godly jealousy; for I betrothed you to one husband, so that to Christ I might present you as a pure virgin” (2 Cor 11:2).
“Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready. And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints. And he saith unto me, Write, Blessed are they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb. And he saith unto me, These are the true sayings of God” (Rev 19:7-9).
It’s something to think about.
Or, as I like to say, here in this present Church Age of Grace, we have no idea just how good we have it.
