US-China trade war: Deal agreed to suspend new trade tariffs
US President Donald Trump and his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping have agreed to halt new trade tariffs for 90 days to allow for talks, the US says. At a post-G20 summit meeting in Buenos Aires, Mr Trump agreed not to boost tariffs on $200bn (£157bn) of Chinese goods from 10% to 25% on 1 January. China will buy a “very substantial” amount of agricultural, industrial and energy products, the US says.
France fuel protests: Macron calls urgent security meeting
French President Emmanuel Macron will lead an urgent security meeting on Sunday, following a day of riots by hundreds of anti-government protesters in Paris. A government spokesperson said a state of emergency could be imposed to tackle the unrest. Protests over fuel tax have grown into general anger at higher living costs.

Israeli police have recommended indicting Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his wife Sara for alleged fraud and bribery. They are suspected of awarding regulatory favours to the Bezeq telecom firm in return for positive media coverage of the couple. Mr Netanyahu rejected the allegations in what is known as Case 4000.

President Trump said Saturday he will soon terminate the North American Free Trade Agreement to pave the way for congressional consideration of the reworked agreement known as the USMCA. Iran said on Sunday its missile program is defensive and not in breach of U.N. resolutions…following a U.S. allegation that Tehran had carried out a new missile test. U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo on Saturday condemned what he described as Iran’s testing of a medium-range ballistic missile capable of carrying multiple warheads as a violation of the 2015 international agreement on the Iranian nuclear program.
