Israel reopens Gaza’s Kerem Shalom crossing as border remains relatively quiet 
Gaza’s Kerem Shalom industrial goods crossing was reopened for traffic Wednesday morning, following relative quiet along the Gaza Strip border and southern Israel. The decision was made by Defense Minister Avigdor Liberman in conjunction with the IDF, and will allow for commercial goods to reenter the coastal enclave. Israel closed the Kerem Shalon crossing to commercial goods on July 10 and shut down the entry of fuel and gas on July 17.
Egypt summons Palestinian groups for Israeli truce, unity talks 
Representatives of various Palestinian factions in the Gaza Strip headed to Cairo on Tuesday for talks with Egyptian intelligence officials on the possibility of reaching a truce agreement with Israel, and ending the Hamas-Fatah power struggle. The visit coincides with unconfirmed reports in the Arab media that the Palestinian factions and Israel are close to reaching a long-term cease-fire agreement under the auspices of Egypt and the United Nations.

It scaled down its presence in Afghanistan last year after seven staff were killed.
Turkey issues retaliatory tariffs on US imports
Turkey has sharply raised tariffs on US imports, including passenger cars, alcohol and tobacco. A decree signed by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan raised the tariffs on cars to 120%, on alcoholic drinks to 140% and on leaf tobacco to 60%. The US doubled tariffs last week over Turkey’s refusal to extradite a US pastor who is imprisoned there.
