Israeli Air Force strikes Hamas terror target in Gaza Strip 
The Israeli Air Force struck a terror target located in the central Gaza Strip on Saturday night, the IDF said. “IDF jets attacked a terror target belonging to Hamas in the central Gaza Strip,” said an army statement. “The attack was carried out in response to the placement of explosive devices on the border fence.”
Mayotte unrest: French island residents round up ‘foreigners’
A group of residents from the Indian Ocean French island of Mayotte has been rounding up suspected illegal migrants and taking them to local police. The move targeted around 100 “foreigners, Comorans and Africans”, a member of the group told AFP. Protests against the economic crisis and illegal immigrants from the Comoros islands have paralysed the island.
Sri Lanka violence: Nationwide state of emergency lifted
Sri Lanka has lifted a state of emergency imposed on 6 March in response to an outbreak of violence against Muslim communities. Two people were killed, nearly 450 Muslim-owned homes and shops damaged and 60 vehicles burnt in attacks in the central district of Kandy. Curfews and social media bans were brought in to try and quell tension.
Syria war: Turkey-backed forces oust Kurds from heart of Afrin
Turkish-backed forces have taken full control of the centre of the Syrian-Kurdish city of Afrin. Fighters waved flags and tore down the statue of a legendary Kurdish figure after claiming the city centre on Sunday. The two-month Turkish-led operation aimed to rid the border region of a Kurdish militia that Turkey considers a terrorist group.
Russia goes to the polls in presidential election
Russians are voting in an election that is likely to return Vladimir Putin for a fourth term as president. Voting began in the Russian far-east at 20:00 GMT on Saturday, and opened in Moscow nine hours later. More than 100 million people are eligible to vote. Exit polls are expected late on Sunday. Mr Putin is hoping for another six-year term and faces seven other candidates.

Former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe wrote memos describing his conversations with President Donald Trump and other events and has turned them over to Special Counsel Robert Mueller, a person close to Mr. McCabe said Saturday. The memos, written soon after the events they describe, cover Mr. McCabe’s dealings with the White House and what former FBI Director James Comey told Mr. McCabe about his interactions, according to the person.
Britain accuses Russia of secretly stockpiling deadly nerve agent used in attack
British Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson said on Sunday that Russia has been stockpiling the deadly nerve agent used to poison a Russian former double agent in England and has been investigating how such weapons can be used in assassinations. Britain has said Russia used the Soviet-era nerve agent called Novichok to attack Sergei Skripal and his daughter…Russia has denied any involvement.
