In September, China introduced education reform to teach students at all levels of its public school system to be "guided firmly to support" Communist Party of China leadership and "socialist core values." All textbooks will reflect this reform even more than they have over the past several decades. The New York Times reports that a teacher of fourth grade students in Yuqing County, China asked her students "Today's life is rich, blessed, happy and joyous. Where does our happy life come from? Who gave it to us?" To which a 9-year-old boy replied to great applause: "It comes from the blood of the revolutionary martyrs! From the Red Army!' Herein lies the peril of government-controlled schools.
 
America's Founding Fathers understood the dangers of a public school system as influenced by a federal government. It is why they insisted that schools be locally funded and administrated. Socialist and communist forces, however, found another way to attack our children. The teaching methods in public schools are deeply rooted in the Hegelian Dialectic as brought into the schools by John Dewey, co-author of the Humanist Manifesto, a socialist and considered the "Father of Education" by the National Education Association. Dewy and Horace Mann before him developed and perfected the curriculum to teach the teachers based on the socialist methods of German/Prussian philosophers such as Hegel.
 
In his book, "Public Education Against America, The Hidden Agenda," late Christian radio host Marlin Maddoux thoroughly documented how the public school system has been commandeered by the socialist left and is using a very sophisticated "Hegelian dialectic" seven-step method to reprogram your children. The first step is to get your child to choose his own set of values independent of his parents, the fifth step is to confess those values and the seventh step is to act on them as a way of life.  All the while, the child is being moved specifically away from his Christian worldview into secular humanism. Mann opened the door to secularism in public schools and Dewy walked through it with socialist methods and teachings.
 
As evidenced by the mandate in China, progressives focus on public education because they know their success depends on shaping the minds of children, confusing them on their religion and morals, and dumbing them down to think that government has the answer to all things. This started in America by teaching the teachers these progressive methods and philosophies and populating them in local schools. The Department of Education's ability to grant federal money based on adherence to federal agendas was a natural work-around to nationalization of public schools. Jesus said in Matthew 24:4, "Take heed that no man deceive you." Let us not be deceived into thinking public schools are bastions of truth and virtue, teaching reading, writing and arithmetic. They are socially engineering the generations very similar to communist China.
