Judgment Day Approaching - Dave Hunt -

Israel is the major topic of the Bible. The word "Israel" occurs 2,565 times in 2,293 verses. More than enough prophecies have already been fulfilled in Israel's unique history to prove that "the God of Israel" (203 times) is the true God. In Zechariah 12:2-3, He declares:

Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of trembling unto all the people round about, when they shall be in the siege both against Judah and against Jerusalem. And in that day will I make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all people: all that burden themselves with it shall be cut in pieces, though all the people of the earth be gathered together against it.

This is an amazing prophecy not only that Jerusalem, which was then in ruins, would become a burden to the whole world, but that all of Israel's neighbors would be united against her. They have fought one another in the past. Yet today, for the first time in history, "all the people round about" are united by Islam to destroy Israel.

For more than 50 years, Israel's neighbors have launched surprise attacks against her and she has proved too strong militarily, even though they outnumber her forty to one. God said, "I [will] make...Judah like an hearth of fire among the wood…and they shall devour all the people round about…" (Zech 12:6). Soundly defeated every time, her Muslim neighbors feign a desire for peace, hoping to deceive and ultimately destroy her—a strategy established by Muhammad.

The real battle is not between Arabs and Jews, but between Allah and Yahweh. There is no question of the outcome, but it will be costly for both sides: Israel will be severely punished for rebellion, and her enemies will be destroyed.

Exactly as foretold, Jerusalem is a burden to all people of the world. More than 60,000 individual votes have been cast in the UN against Israel. This tiny nation with one 1,000th of the world's population has occupied one-third of the United Nations' time—a burden indeed!

Skeptics accuse Christians of trying to fit current events to the Bible, claiming that no one recognized such prophecies until Israel was formed in 1948. On the contrary, for centuries most evangelical Christians have preached from the Bible the return of the Jews to their own land. Even John Owen, a leading Calvinist, wrote in the 17th century: "The Jews shall be gathered...into their homeland." 1 This was also the opinion of the poet John Milton, of John Bunyan, Roger Williams, Oliver Cromwell, and many others.

Martin Luther wrote: "If the Jews are Abraham's descendants…[they should be] back in their own land [with] a state of their own. But…[they are] scattered and despised." 2 He therefore wrote off the Jews as God's chosen people and persecuted them. But today the Jews are back in their own land after 2,500 years of being scattered worldwide, speaking Hebrew just as King David did 3,000 years ago. No other people have returned to reestablish their own nation and language after being cast out of their land for such a period of time.

Some prophecies applicable only to our day are frightening, foretelling God's judgment. The language is often graphic:

If I whet my glittering sword, and mine hand take hold on judgment; I will render vengeance to mine sword shall devour flesh… (Dt 32:41,42). For, behold, the LORD will come…to render his anger with his sword... (Is 66:15,16). And the slain of the LORD shall be at that day from one end of the earth even unto the other…they shall not be lamented, neither gathered, nor buried.... (Jer 25:33)

The question is often asked as to whether the United States (or Canada, Australia, et al.) is in Bible prophecy. Of course! Scripture declares that every nation in the world will join together to invade Israel in the last days and be destroyed in the battle of Armageddon: "I will gather all nations [surely all includes America] against Jerusalem to battle; and the city shall be taken….Then shall the LORD go forth, and fight against those nations…" (Zech 12:9; 14:2-4).

But wouldn't the United States be spared for being Israel's friend? In fact, the U.S. State Department has often been against Israel. This was true in the Yom Kippur War. In a sneak attack (October 1973), 80,000 Egyptians overwhelmed 500 Israeli defenders along the Suez and 1,400 Syrian tanks swept down the Golan with only one Israeli tank in service to oppose them. Israel was taken by surprise. Most of her armed forces were on holiday. The initial success of the attackers so electrified the Arab world that nine other Arab states rushed to get in on the slaughter.

Historian David A. Rausch writes: "Jordan's King Hussein sent two of his best armored brigades to Syria. Saudi Arabia and Kuwait financially underwrote the huge cost while sending thousands of troops to fight the Israelis. Kuwait lent her British-made Lightning jets to Egypt. Libya's Muammar Qaddafi turned over forty French-made Mirage III fighters and 100 tanks. Iraqi MiG fighter jets as well as tank and infantry divisions fought on the Golan Heights, while a squadron of Iraqi Hunter jets were utilized by Egypt. Arabs predicted the extermination of the Jewish state and the 'liberation' of Palestine...." 3

The Soviet Union blocked any UN attempt at a cease-fire and refortified the Arab forces with armaments and supplies by sea and air. It was the closest Israel ever came to being defeated. But when the war ended, the Israeli tank columns were on the outskirts of Damascus and Cairo and could have taken those cities had they not turned back. Tragically, Israel suffered about 3,000 dead—which would be comparable to the U.S. losing 150,000. Except for a series of miracles from God, Israel would not have survived.

Where was her friend, the United States? Dozens of notices were sent to the Nixon White House by America's National Security Administration (NSA) that an Arab Pearl Harbor was about to be launched against Israel. Nixon sat on them. Kissinger hid at the Waldorf Astoria hotel in New York the day of the attack and waited another three days before convening the UN Security Council. Declining to rush desperately needed military supplies to Israel, the White House said it had to be careful not to upset the Arabs and cause an oil crisis.

Six years earlier, on June 8, 1967, the fourth morning of the "Six-day War," the USS Liberty, an electronics eavesdropping vessel, arrived off the Sinai coast and began to suck in every Israeli military communication, relaying it all to the British Secret Service's giant computer installation on Cyprus. From there, complete maps of every Israeli military move were transmitted in advance to the Arab armed forces. With that help, the Arabs might have been able to use their overwhelming numerical superiority to turn the tide of the war. Israel had no choice except to sink the Liberty. Of course the media screamed about this "cold-blooded attack." No one believed Israel's public excuse that the Liberty had been mistaken for a hostile Egyptian ship—and neither the U.S. nor Israel has publicly told the truth.

Yes, the United States, too, will attack Israel and will be punished at Armageddon. God declares plainly that He will bring all nations against Israel to destroy them:

In the latter days...I will bring thee against my land…my fury shall come up in my face…there shall be a great shaking in the land of Israel…the fishes of the sea, and the fowls of the heaven, and the beasts of the field, and all creeping things [on] the earth, and all the men [on] the face of the earth, shall shake at my presence…[all nations] shall know that I am the Lord. (Ezk 38:16-23)

This is terrifying language! What causes this "great shaking" of the entire planet and every living creature upon it? God is personally coming to earth as He did at Mount Sinai when He gave the Law—and He is going to take vengeance upon the enemies of Israel!

There are two specific reasons for God's judgment: "I will also gather all nations ...into the valley of Jehoshaphat [between Jerusalem and the Mount of Olives, where God miraculously destroyed invading nations without Israel lifting a finger (2 Chr 21:10-25)], and will plead with [punish] them there for my people and for my heritage Israel, whom they have [1] scattered among the nations, and [2] parted my land" (Joel 3:2).

Of course, all nations have participated in persecuting and scattering the Jews from country to country for 2,500 years. The second reason for God's judgment falling on all nations, however, is something that has only occurred within our generation: "they have…parted [divided] my land."

Israel has been overrun by invaders many times—but never did any conqueror divide the land. The victor does not share its spoils with others. Since World War I, however, all nations have joined to divide the land of Israel.

The 1917 Balfour Declaration, the 1919 Paris Peace Conference, and the 1922 Declaration of Principles by the League of Nations all recognized that the land that had become known as "Palestine" (since the Romans renamed Israel in A.D. 135) belonged to the Jews. It was set aside to become the national homeland of the Jewish people "internationally guaranteed, and…formally recognized to rest upon ancient historic connection." Of course, history ties Israel to all of "Palestine."

Britain was given the mandate to see that the Jews were safely settled there. The discovery of huge reservoirs of oil under Arab lands caused Britain to keep Jewish immigrants out and let in tens of thousands of Arabs. Just when millions of Jews desperately needed a haven to which they could flee from Nazi Germany, Britain's 1939 White Paper limited Jewish immigrants to 10,000 per year for a maximum of five years, plus an additional 25,000 "refugees" during that period—then the door to Palestine would be shut entirely to the Jews. Since the Nazis had marked for extinction 11 million Jews in Europe, the quota of 25,000 defied God and conscience.

A year earlier, President Roosevelt had gathered delegates from 32 countries in Evian, France, to discuss the worsening plight of the Jews. Roosevelt made it clear that the United States would do nothing. Britain said there was no room in Palestine and it was not to be discussed. Professing their great sympathy for Europe's Jews that everyone knew were to be exterminated, the nations offered various excuses why they could do nothing to intervene.

Hitler shrewdly declared, "We...are ready to put all these criminals at the disposal of these countries...even on luxury ships." When the conference ended with the Jews completely abandoned, Hitler mocked the participants: "It was recently regarded as wholly incomprehensible why Germany did not wish to preserve in its population...the Jews…[yet these] countries seem in no way anxious to [receive them] now that the opportunity offers." The entire world was Hitler's partner in destroying the Jews!

In 1944, Hitler offered to sell to the allies 500,000 Hungarian Jews for $2 each—and no one would take them! England said there was "no room" in Palestine for them! In 1943, Britain and America had agreed to say and do nothing about the Holocaust, fearful that if pressed, Hitler would dump the Jews on his critics. The Allies steadfastly refused the repeated urgent appeals from Jewish organizations to bomb the rail lines going in and out of the extermination camps. God will judge all nations!

After the war, a trickle of emaciated survivors of Hitler's death machines sought to reach "Palestine" in half-sinking ships. Some who got within sight of the land God had given to them as an everlasting inheritance (1 Chr 16:15-18) were driven back by the British navy and put into internment camps on Cyprus. Many who did manage to find shelter within what would become the new Jewish State of Israel were rounded up by the British and removed to those camps. Britain created Jordan out of most of the Promised Land. The demise of the British Empire, upon which "the sun never sank," can be counted from the time Britain betrayed the Jews—one more fulfillment of the prophecy, "I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee…" (Gn 12:3).

When the UN finally voted to partition Palestine on November 29, 1947 (UN Res. 181), God's "chosen people" received about 13 percent of the land that had once belonged to them! Thus Joel's prophecy was fulfilled that all nations would join to divide Israel. The only part of that prophecy remaining to be fulfilled is the judgment on the nations for having "parted" God's land: "The land shall not be sold [partitioned] for ever; for the land is mine" (Lev 25:23).

God's anger is growing hotter against the nations of this world for robbing Israel of what He gave to her. Yet in continued defiance of God, every peace proposal that the West has imposed upon Israel has involved further dividing of God's land. President Bush, a professing Christian, originated the so-called "road map to peace," which calls for a further dividing of the land of Israel. He ought to tremble and repent, as should President Putin, the EU, and the UN, who have joined Bush to make up the "quartet" sponsoring this plan.

On her part, Israel has been willing to give away more and more land in exchange for promises of "peace" from the PLO in spite of the fact that its charter calls for the destruction of Israel and that its maps and those of the entire Arab world do not even acknowledge Israel's existence. The fact that Israel has been forced to do so by the West is no excuse. For this she will be punished severely in what is called "the time of Jacob's trouble" (Jer 30:7). Yes, God will deliver her, but only after two-thirds of all Jews on earth have been killed (Zec 13:8,9).

There is no more appropriate place and way to destroy the nations that have abused Israel than when they, in the spirit of Satan, come to effect once and for all what Hitler called the "final solution to the Jewish problem." Believers are to meet together to encourage and exhort one another from Scripture, "so much the more, as ye see the day [of judgment] approaching" (Heb 10:25). Fulfilled prophecies are heralding that day as never before. TBC

I Declare a Holy War

Stephen Goldstein

Tuesday 24 October 2006, by Alain
On the 12th of this month, I posted a column in which I enumerate all the reasons a Muslim cannot be a good American citizen. I used no rhetoric, just solid information. To be sure, there were a few negative comments such as I am trying to incite the Muslim population and that I write untruths about the religion of Islam. I reject both of those charges. A friend of mine from church read it and told me that to write such as that, I might as well declare a "holy war."

I have given our conversation some thought, and after prayerful consideration, think that this is a great idea. Consider this; the “moderate Muslims” (there really is no such thing) tell us that the word jihad means “holy war” but that it is a spiritual struggle, not armed conflict. (There are 10 million or so Muslims that haven’t gotten that word yet) I know that the religion of Islam teaches its adherents that it is quite okay to lie, cheat, and/or steal from an infidel, but for the sake of this argument, I am going to accept what the moderate Muslim says about jihad as the truth. Hence, THE PLAN.

There is a terror network in place in America today. In Detroit and Dearborn there are no less than four different groups operating, Al Gama’at al Islammiyya, Hamas, Hezbollah, and the Muslim Brotherhood are very active in this area. In Tampa, Florida, we have Islamic Jihad, In Boston, Massachusetts; there is the National Islamic Front. Of course, our national government’s Department of Homeland Security might say otherwise. Throughout much of the Easter United States, The Mid-Atlantic States, Almost all of the west coast, Texas, and Oklahoma, and in the Corn Belt, there are groups and mosques working diligently to destroy our Judeo-Christian way of life. And yet, they call it a “spiritual battle.”

I propose to make it a true “spiritual battle.” I am looking for 1,000 or more prayer warriors; they must be willing to be on the frontlines of the battle. They must have a complete trust in God and that no matter what; He will see us through the battle. The battle ground is going to be public access as close to a mosque or Islamic school in your community. These prayer warriors are going to have to be a physical presence as well as a praying presence. I recommend that two or more people at a time take up the vigil. Scripture tells us that where one can put a thousand to flight, two can put ten thousand to flight. Jesus said, “Wherever two or more are gathered in my name, I will be there also.”

Below are the rules for the spiritual engagement:

* Make no signs, no banners to display. Christian T-shirts, or a shirt identifying your church are okay
* Do not engage anyone in conversation from the mosque or school where you are praying. Friday is their Sabbath; this would be a good time to be out front.
o If they ask for information in receiving Christ, get their name and phone number do not give them yours.
* Make sure you are on public ground that anyone can use. Do not enter any property belonging to the mosque or school and do not block any driveways, walkways, or other entrances to their buildings
* If approached, be honest. Tell the person that approaches you that you are praying form the people inside to receive Christ as their Savior
o Do not get into a theological debate; you are there to pray and only pray
* If law enforcement is called, make sure to do what you are told. If you are told you cannot be on public land in front of the facility where you are praying, make sure to get the officer’s name and badge number, politely ask him or her to request that a shift supervisor be called to the scene. Explain it to the shift supervisor, and if you are still told you must leave, then do so. Call the ACLJ office, give them the circumstances of the event, and see if they might want to proceed with legal action if it is warranted.
* Be diligent in your prayers, pray for the Holy Spirit to reveal Himself to those inside the school or mosque that those trapped in this cult of death might be redeemed by the God of light.
* This cannot be a one time event; it must be ongoing; as long as there is a mosque or Islamic school open in this country, we will have to be out in front every day praying that those inside would come to understand the love, grace, mercy, and hope that is in the Messiah and accept Him as their Lord.
* Always remember, that the battle belongs to the Lord.

I recommend that anyone who wants to set this up should first pray and seek God’s face to make sure this is what He would have you do. Finally, go to your pastor or minister and get his blessing. If he is concerned for your safety just remind him of God’s promises to watch over us. I would love to see true born again believers, true prayer warriors all across this land to pray every last Muslim into the kingdom of God. However, those that refuse to repent, refuse to turn from their wicked ways and seek the one true God’s mercy and grace, I would love to see prayed right back to their ancestral homelands where they cannot harm us.

Of course, there will be liberals both in and out of the body of Christ (I find it hard to believe a liberal can be a true Christian) who will have something negative to say about such action. That’s quite all right as well. We can pray for their salvation as well. We can expect to see CAIR, the Council of American-Islamic Relations to become angry and make demands that it be stopped, but why should they? After all, it is a spiritual war not an actual armed conflict. Or is it?

Stephen Goldstein is a Jewish believer in Messiah. He is an evangelist and a pastor. He lives in Tallahassee, Florida. He can be reached at

If you participate, please keep a digital camera on hand and document the event, and any confrontations. Send images and or videos to me here for publication.

Occult Activities at the Elite Bohemian Grove
in Northern California Exposed!
Alex Jones Tells His Story Austin, TX -- Last July, documentary filmmaker Alex Jones infiltrated Bohemian Grove, becoming the first person to capture the bizarre occult activities of the all-male elite club membership on videotape. This footage recently aired in England, Ireland and Scotland on UK Channel Four as Part Three of a four-part special: The Secret Rulers of the World.

Alex Jones was inside the 2,700 acre elite compound for over five hours, and states, "Thank God I caught the whole thing on videotape because no one would believe me if I hadn’t. I have trouble believing what I witnessed with my own two eyes. It was actually that bizarre."

For over 128 years, world leaders have traveled to Sonoma County California in the month of July. Almost immediately, bizarre rumors began to circulate in the local press that something dark and occult was going on. The rumors entailed dark stories of men in black and red robes and a giant 40-foot stone owl, to which something, or someone was being sacrificed.

Alex Jones, being a radio talk-show host had heard the rumors many times, so he decided to look into it and did some research. To his surprise, mainstream media articles from Parade Magazine, the Associated Press, Reuters, the Sacramento Bee, and the Washington Times confirmed the incredible. World leaders were traveling yearly to the rural redwood-covered hills of Northern California and photos actually existed of the giant stone owl and the men in black and red robes.

"I was angered," Jones said, "that in over 50 years there had been only a handful of news stories written on Bohemian Grove, and that these stories calmly reported on the rumors and engaged in a whitewash, thus hiding a giant story in plain view."

Reading about all the law enforcement and Secret Service protecting the Grove’s mysteries every July, Jones took the challenge of Jon Ronson of World of Wonder Productions to "blow Bohemian Grove wide-open with his hidden cameras."

After traveling from Austin, Texas to San Francisco, Jones and the other members of his team, Violet Nichols and Mike Hanson, met up with the British filmmakers and began a three-day investigation before attempting to enter the Grove.

On July 15, 2000, Alex Jones and Mike Hanson, equipped with two hidden video cameras and disguised as members of the Bohemian Club successfully infiltrated the elite cult compound.

One of the most commonly asked questions is: How did they get in?

Following is a transcript of a taped interview with Alex Jones, who describes his infiltration of the super-secret elitist camp and what he witnessed inside:

"The Bohemian Club lies within a range of large hills and cliffs with 300-400 ft. drops. The club itself consists of large log cabin-style homes built into the gorge walls.

There is only one entrance on the north side of the compound, which is a paved road, appropriately named "Bohemian Avenue."

A low barbed-wire fence surrounds the entire perimeter of the club, but the fence doesn’t matter because there is only one place where the hills come together, leaving an opening traversable by foot or car. Simply stated, the Bohemian Grove is a walled city.

After being dropped off near the Bohemian Club, we inserted ourselves into the woods about 100 yards from the main entrance. After going over the barbed wire fence, we found ourselves in what can only be described as a moat. The entire area along the road to the foot of the cliff walls had been dug out and flooded.

We were able to make our way across the expansive swamp by jumping from broken tree limbs and other debris.

After climbing up a steep embankment, pulling our way up by gripping on tree roots, we found ourselves in a large parking lot, with hundreds of cars. We saw several dozen Bohemian Club employees/servants getting out of the vehicles, which were everything from Mercedes-Benz to Ford Tempos.

At about 100 yards through the trees, we saw a much larger parking lot, filled with more late-model, luxury-style cars. Obviously, this was the parking area of the actual 2,000 members of the Bohemian Club.

When you come in on the main road, the moat, the swamp and the embankment are off to the right (off to the west) just 50 yards of so. By going across the swamp or moat, we made our way past the first two checkpoints, which consisted of a small guard shack on the left-hand side of the road and another 50 yards down the road another guard shack on the right-hand side of the road.

It’s a good thing that we decided to sneak around the first two checkpoints, by entering through the Bohemian Grove employee parking lot, because the real checkpoints lie deeper inside the Grove. There was a checkpoint in the middle of the road (a large guard shack with several dozen security people) and then guard shacks on the left and right sides of the road, which were kind of like the German-style checkpoints you see in old war films.

I told Mike I thought it would be a good idea if we tried to get on one of the large trucks (the flat-back open trucks that had padded seats that were actually picking up members of the Bohemian Club as well as the employees). So, we went ahead and walked through the woods to the Bohemian Club member parking area and waited for one of the large trucks to pull up, at which time myself and Mike Hanson climbed onto the back with two older gentlemen.

Mike and myself made small-talk conversation as we got onto the black-top road and drove deeper into the Grove, now approaching these larger checkpoints. In the two or three minutes that we were on board the truck, we caught an interesting conversation on tape, as two of the members discussed the prices of their ceremonial robes (all of that is in my video, Dark Secrets: Inside Bohemian Grove).

Our first close call happened as we neared the main checkpoint. The truck actually stopped, at which time an older, gray-haired man made eye contact with the driver of the truck and walked around the back of the truck to stare myself and Mike Hanson right in the eye. Obviously, he was afraid that we might be guests of the two older gentlemen we were riding in with in the truck (as Bohemian Club members are allowed to bring guests) so he didn’t ask us who we were or what we were doing. The guards went ahead and waved us on with a look of suspicion.

Then we were actually inside the Bohemian Grove. We had heard all of the bizarre rumors and were about to find out what was really going on inside. The mystery was getting closer to being solved.

The truck drove in for several more minutes and stopped at which time we off-loaded. I told Mike that I wanted to get to cover. It took us about 45 minutes to an hour to walk all the way through to the bottom of the gorge, at which point the road actually ended and a cars could no longer drive on it, as it turned into a concrete-paved, blacktop foot-path.

We reached the end of the gorge, which is an observation deck at the top of a 300-foot cliff overlooking the Russian River and the small town of Monte Rio on the other side. It was my plan to have the least amount of contact with the Bohemian Club members and staff as I could and to wait until nightfall to attempt to get out our hidden cameras and to catch the Cremation of Care ceremony on tape.

At this point, I should digress and go back and say that as we were walking into the Grove we actually came within about ten yards of the 40 foot stone owl that sits to the north side of the small lake. We were only about seven yards away from the black altar that sits at the base of the owl.

So, already at this point we had proven that rumor true: yes there is a giant stone owl – yes there is an altar. As we were walking deeper into the grove, past the lake, we even saw little metal crosses sticking up from the water’s edge. We’ll get to those little metal crosses later.

So, now we had been there about an hour at the observation deck. There was no one around. All of the sudden, there was an older gentleman, about 67-70 years old, wearing a Sonoma County Sheriff’s Department uniform coming up the path . We didn’t even see him coming. I believe he was the Sheriff, and he started speaking to us in some kind of code.

He looked at directly at me and said, "Were you here in 1913? Are you one of the old ones?"

Now obviously, I was 27 years old and the man knew I wasn’t around in 1913 and that I wasn’t one of the old ones. Knowing that he was testing me, I just calmly said, "Yeah, I’m with the Hillbillies."

To explain that, there are about 95 different clubs within the Bohemian Club. All the different club houses and log cabin-style mansions that are built into the cliffs have different names and different memberships. The most elite club, according to press reports is Mandaley, with Henry Kissinger and Paul Volcker, former Federal Reserve Chairman and other New World Order bosses.

The Hillbilly Camp is the camp that the Bushes are members of, along with many other notables in American industry, banking, media and government. At that point he smiled and said, "Well, enjoy the day." He then turned around and walked off.

After he left I said to Mike, "Look, we’ve got to get to a new position and hide ourselves in the woods." So we traveled back into the gorge, off the cliffside and the observation deck. About half-way into the gorge, we noticed that two men in dark suits and sunglasses were following us. I decided to slow down.

The two men ,who were obviously private security, Secret Service or somebody’s private body guards, walked up to us and asked us our names. I gave them my fake name and Mike gave them his fake name, and we told them that we were members of the Hillbilly Club.

They said, "take it easy, don’t stress yourselves out and enjoy yourselves," which was a theme that came up more later. At this point, we had been confronted twice and were now being followed. I told Mike that we had to get into a heavily populated area where a lot of the Grove members were congregating.

So we went into several of the clubs and almost had our identities blown. We went in and had a few drinks, because everyone was drinking copiously and they were offering us wine in some of the clubhouses. We then got back on the road and into a large outdoor feasting area, where hundreds of tables were being set from some party or revelry.

I told Mike we should go up the steep road into the hills where some of the larger structures were located. It took us about 20 minutes to walk up the road into the only hills that were accessible by foot. At that point some of the employees began to ask us why weren’t riding the truck up. We told them that we wanted exercise, at which point they started acting pretty suspicious.

We noticed that high up in the hills many of the large log cabin structures were deserted, with many large outside decks. So we went into the Web Camp and just made ourselves comfortable. (The camps have different names like Lost Boys, Doom, Dragon etc.) We simply sat out the next hour, reloaded our hidden cameras and got them back into place.

By then, the shadows were getting really long and it was just a few minutes until dusk. We started to hear bizarre chanting and singing coming from down below us in the gorge. So we traveled back into the gorge. On our way back down, we saw thousands of men chanting and singing drunkenly beneath the giant redwoods.

It was like something out of a fantasy novel. I expected to see a dragon come hopping by any moment. There were huge skulls hanging down from the floodlights, satanic-styled owls with glowing eyes, (a lot of trappings of death) that we could now see in the twilight illuminated by the large floodlights.

The feasting revelers were beginning to break up and to travel down paths towards the lake. We decided to go ahead and mix in with them and go where they were going. They were going towards the east side of the bank about 100 yards across the north tip of the lake where the idol and altar stood.

As we were walking around the lake, the only black man we saw, a very large man, saw myself and Mike Hanson walking very quickly compared to other members in the crowd (we wanted to get a good place on the east side of the bank to watch the Cremation of Care ritual – all rumors I had heard were now coming true).

He said, "trouble yourselves not! Take it easy! The cares of the world are off your shoulders! You’re not supposed to walk that fast." He then gave us two full-color programs. On the cover of the program, they show Moloch, the big owl, with a burning body enflamed beneath it (the program can be viewed at Also a little demon, with the initials PJ was sweeping up someone’s ashes on the lower left-hand corner of the program (which is also on my film, Dark Secrets: Inside Bohemian Grove).

Thousands of the men began to gather on the eastern bank, private servants (as opposed to the Bohemian Grove employees, who all wear red shirts and who weren’t allowed to be present for the ritual) began to put out chairs for their elderly employers.

The sun had now sunk behind the hill. It was completely dark and you couldn’t even see the other side of the water. There were bats flying around and a lot of natural fog building on the surface of the water (there is a lot of fog in Northern California).

I mean, if Count Dracula lived in North America, he would like in Sonoma County. This was spooky stuff. The hair on the back of my neck was beginning to stand up at this point.

Then, out of the woods, all of the sudden came thirty priests in black robes, their faces painted up like death, with a man dressed like the Grim Reaper pulling a wagon with a bound body. Then we noticed something that we had seen during the day. Large black canopies had been unfurled out of the trees on the western side of the bank (we’re on the eastern side – only about 70 yards away at that point) and they unfurled those, and the wagon pulled behind it.

The men then began to yell out, "burn him again! He’s going to get what he deserves!

Now, I must digress and say that the reason I was able to see the priest in the black robes, the priest painted-up like death, and the bound body on the back of the wagon, was because they were all carrying torches. The place was pretty illuminated by the torches being carried by the thirty priests in front and the thirty priests behind the wagon.

Probably out of the entire ritual that I witnessed, the most important aspect of the ceremony was what happened first. The wagon went behind these big black sheets hanging out of the trees, down to the ground, obscuring the view, and for about 10 minutes nothing happened.

It was quiet except for the hateful shouts of the old men, who said things like, "Oh yeah! Burn that bastard! Kill him! That’s what he deserves!" All we could hear was them whispering and smacking their lips. This went on and on.

Now on the west side of the bank, (we’re were on the east side, about 50-60 yards away) at the front, about 100 yards away on the north side, is the idol, sitting in darkness. No one was paying attention to that. Everyone was enraptured as they stared across the water at whatever was happening behind those black curtains with that bound body.

Whether it was an effigy or real, we do not know. (This is kind of like the Skull and Bones ritual that the New York Observer caught on tape. They claim that the video shows them slitting the throats of ceremonial effigies.) Is all of this in effigy? We don’t know.

We were all focused at what was going on across the pond. Suddenly the owl was lit up by some flood lights and out ran a hundred priests or so in black, red and green robes. Most of them were in black, some in red and a couple in silver or green robes.

Then, out came the high priest, who went through all his incantations about the dead (who is dead at the Grove in the past, may their spirits be conjured and brought back there by the "great owl"). He praised the owl for about twenty minutes and he talked about "goodly Tyre and Babylon."

(I know how bizarre this all sounds, just remember that we have all of this on tape in my video, Dark Secrets: Inside Bohemian Grove, which has aired nationally in the United Kingdom, and might air here in the United States, unless it is suppressed.)

So, the priest talked about "goodly Tyre and Babylon." Well,, there is only one "great owl" of Babylon and "goodly" Tyre. If you read your Bible, or any historical document of the time, they were burning children in the Babylonian and Caananite kingdoms before the owl-god Moloch.

Suddenly, (again, we had initially been misdirected from the owl by the activities behind the curtains across the bank, then we were paying attention to the owl and the priests on the island ) back on the west bank, there was an old-fashioned river-style boat, with that grim reaper character who had been driving the wagon, and he was poling himself across the water with the bound body up on the bow.

He brought the bound body to the high priest who was waiting for it at the foot of the owl, at the bottom of large circular steps on which the owl sits. Then, in very macabre fashion, the two black-clad priests rubbed and caressed the sacrificial body and brought it before the owl.

The body begged for its life, over a speaker system. They refused it mercy. They took it up onto the altar. The "great owl" told them to burn the body (which they called "dull care,")which looks like a human wrapped up in black cloth. Right above the altar there was a large stone lamp that was burning that they call the "eternal flame." The high priest took an unlit torch and lit his torch with this flame.

The body again begged for mercy. The high priest then walked down (with some difficulty, because this high priest was so old, he could hardly even walk), and lit the pyre on fire. He began to say that he would read the signs in the remains, a deep occult tradition. This is not the Hollywood devil with red pajamas – this is the real deal, Babylon mystery religion-style.

The body continued to scream in pain. Suddenly, all of those little metal crosses that we had seen along the bank during the day burst into flame. So, I was there witnessing something right out of the medieval painter Hieronymus Bosch’s Visions of Hell: burning metal crosses, priests in red and black robes with the high priest in a silver robe with a red cape, a burning body screaming in pain, a giant stone great-horned owl, world leaders, bankers, media and the head of academia engaged in these activities. It was total insanity.

So the ritual ended and all the old men started breaking up and going back to the big hall in the giant redwoods. Myself and Mike Hanson high-tailed it out of there, walking at a brisk pace. We encountered no resistance when we left. We walked right by guards and were out on the main road, Bohemian Avenue.

It is a lot easier to get out of the Grove than it is to get in, because a lot of these world leaders that you read about in the news leave the Grove to go into the small town Monte Rio. They go into the bars for prostitutes that are flown in from around the world to service them.

Down the road the British media was waiting to pick us up. They asked us, "Did you get it? Did you get it?"

One of the producers, John Sergeant, said, "You’ve done it Alex! You’ve blown Bohemian Grove right open!"

There is so much more to this story that we don’t have time to get into. I decided to have this interview transcribed and put on my website, You really need to get the film, or at least look at the photos or the stills of the video on Look at the program there with the burning body and read the mainstream media news stories about the history of the Grove, and you will realize how real all this is.

You need to do this because a week after I got out of the Bohemian Grove, a group called the Bohemian Grove Action Network, (a group that protests the Grove and is against the corruption, elitism and how women are denied access, because the Grove is all-male, of course), contacted different press outlets. I got ten unsolicited media calls from the west coast media.

I gave them the information, and we put the video clips on the web at They all said that the infiltration and what our cameras caught on tape would be a huge story. After that, we never heard from them again.

That shows the power of the Grove. The only places we have been able to get information out about Bohemian Grove has been on talk radio across the country, the Internet, and now across the United Kingdom. Hopefully, they’ve broken the ice abroad by broadcasting this over UK Channel Four and this true story of Bohemian Grove will make it into the mainstream United States media.

This is big news. I’ve done several hundred radio interviews about it and if any media outlet is interested in interviewing me I am happy to do it to spread the news. For everyone out there: just get the video Dark Secrets: Inside Bohemian Grove. I encourage people to make copies for non-commercial, educational purposes to wake-up people in your area.

This has really been life changing for me, to go in there and witness this and then have some people spin it, like, "oh, it’s just fraternity fun." These people were deadly serious. This is a story that needs to be told and the establishment is trying to suppress it. Please spread this information to every corner of the world.

2nd warning for Muslims to leave U.S. before attack -

'Because Allah's punishment would fall on America in the month of Ramadan'

WASHINGTON – Another Pakistani journalist is reporting receiving another threat – this one from a senior Taliban leader – warning all Muslims to leave the U.S. in anticipation of a major terrorist attack before the end of Ramadan.

The head of the Islamabad-based al-Quds Center reported receiving an audio message from Mullah Masoom Afghani urging U.S. Muslims to get out of the country "because Allah's punishment would fall on America in the month of Ramadan."

Muslims are observing Ramadan this year Sept. 24 to Oct. 23.

Jamal Ismail is the journalist who received the message. He formerly worked for al-Jazeera. He told the News of Pakistan that he received a phone call Oct. 5 from Afghani.

"Afghani said he was speaking from somewhere in Kandahar province," reported Ismail. "In it, he advised Muslim residents of America to get out to escape harm because the U.S. could face big attacks in the month of Ramadan."

Ismail said it was the first time Afghani, who is head of the pro-Taliban cleric's consultative council and former ambassador of Afghanistan to Pakistan, had ever sent such a message.

"Afghani didn't say that it was a dream," recalled Ismail. "It appeared that he strongly believed that America was going to face punishment at the hands of Allah."

Last month, WND reported the new al-Qaida field commander in Afghanistan called for Muslims to leave the U.S. – particularly Washington and New York – in anticipation of a major terror attack to rival Sept. 11, according to an interview by another Pakistani journalist.

Abu Dawood told Hamid Mir, a reporter who has covered al-Qaida and met with Osama bin Laden, the attack is being coordinated by Adnan el-Shukrijumah and suggests it may involve some form of weapon of mass destruction smuggled across the Mexican border.

"Our brothers are ready to attack inside America. We will breach their security again," he is quoted as saying. "There is no timeframe for our attack inside America; we can do it any time."

As WND has previously reported, el-Shukrijumah is a trained nuclear technician and accomplished pilot who has been singled out by bin Laden and Ayman al-Zawahiri to serve as the field commander for the next terrorist attack on U.S. soil.

The terrorist was last seen in Mexico, where, on Nov. 1, 2004, he allegedly hijacked a Piper PA Pawnee cropduster from Ejido Queretaro near Mexicali to transport a nuclear weapon and nuclear equipment into the U.S., according to Paul Williams, a former FBI consultant and author of "The Dunces of Doomsday."

"He is an American and a friend of Muhammad Atta, who led 9/11 attacks five years ago," said Dawood. "We call him 'Jaffer al Tayyar' (Jafer the Pilot); he is very brave and intelligent. (President) Bush is aware that brother Adnan has smuggled deadly materials inside America from the Mexican border. Bush is silent about him, because he doesn't want to panic his people. Sheikh Osama bin Laden has completed his cycle of warnings. You know, he is man of his words, he is not a politician; he always does what he says. If he said it many times that Americans will see new attacks, they will definitely see new attacks. He is a real mujahid. Americans will not win this war, which they have started against Muslims. Americans are the biggest supporters of the biggest terrorist in the world, which is Israel."

Mir reportedly interviewed Dawood Sept. 12 at the tomb of Sultan Mehmud Ghaznawi on the outskirts of Kabul. Dawood and the al-Qaida leaders who accompanied him were clean-shaven and dressed as Western reporters. The al-Qaida commander had contacted Mir by cell phone to arrange the meeting.

El-Shukrijumah was born in Guyana Aug. 4, 1975 – the firstborn of Gulshair el-Shukrijumah, a 44-year-old radical Muslim cleric, and his 16-year-old wife. In 1985, Gulshair migrated to the United States, where he assumed duties as the imam of the Farouq Mosque in Brooklyn.

The mosque, located at 554 Atlantic Avenue in Brooklyn, has served as a hive for terrorist activities. It has raised millions for the jihad and has served as a recruiting station for al-Qaida. Many of the planners of the 1993 attack on the World Trade Center, including blind Sheikh Omar Abdel Rahman, were prominent members of this notorious "house of worship."

In 1995, the Shukrijumah family relocated to Miramar, Fla., where Gulshair became the spiritual leader of the radical Masjid al-Hijah Mosque, and where Adnan became friends with Jose Padilla, who planned to detonate a radiological bomb in midtown Manhattan; Mandhai Jokhan, who was convicted of attempting to blow up nuclear power plants in southern Florida; and a group of other homegrown terrorists.

Adnan Shukrijumah attended flight schools in Florida and Norman, Oklahoma, along with Mohammad Atta and the other 9/11 operatives, and he became a highly skilled commercial jet pilot, although he, like Atta and the other terrorists, never applied for a license with the Federal Aviation Commission.

In April 2001, Shukrijumah spent 10 days in Panama, where he reportedly met with al-Qaida officials to assist in the planning of 9/11. He also traveled to Trinidad and Guyana, where virulent al-Qaida cells have been established. The following month, he obtained an associate's degree in computer engineering from Broward Community College.

During this time, he managed to get passports from Guyana, Trinidad, Saudi Arabia, Canada and the United States, according to Williams. He also began to adopt a number of aliases, including Abu Arifi, Jafar al-Tayyar, Jaafar At Yayyar, Ja'far al-Tayar, and Mohammed Sher Mohammed Khan (the name that appeared on his official FBI file). He traveled to Saudi Arabia and Pakistan, where he met with Ramzi Binalshibh, Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, and other members of the al-Qaida high command. He also spent considerable time within al-Qaida camps in Afghanistan, where he received training in explosives and special operations.

Following 9/11, el-Shukrijumah was reportedly singled out by bin Laden and al-Zawahiri to spearhead the next great attack on America. One plan was for a nuclear attack that would take place simultaneously in seven U.S. cities, leaving millions dead and the richest and most powerful nation on earth in ashes.

"Muslims should leave America," said Dawood. "We cannot stop our attack just because of the American Muslims; they must realize that American forces are killing innocent Muslims in Afghanistan and Iraq; we have the right to respond back, in the same manner, in the enemy's homeland. The American Muslims are like a human shield for our enemy; they must leave New York and Washington."

Mir, the journalist, has reported previously that al-Qaida has smuggled nuclear weapons and uranium into the U.S.

"I am saying that Muslims must leave America, but we can attack America anytime," he said. "Our cycle of warnings has been completed, now we have fresh edicts from some prominent Muslim scholars to destroy our enemy, this is our defending of Jihad; the enemy has entered in our homes and we have the right to enter in their homes, they are killing us, we will kill them."

Bush Appeasement Of Islam Has Prophetic Implications - Bill Wilson -

WASH—Oct 2—KIN--President George W. Bush, in trying to appease a religious death cult during their most holy holiday, could bring prophetic judgment upon his nation. President Bush has said that Christians, Jews and Muslims worship the same God and he continues to elevate the Islamic cult to the same level as God Almighty. Nothing could be farther from the truth. The entire 66 books of the Bible are consistent and congruous in all ways. The Koran, if one would take the time to read it, is a humanistic version of man's concepts and ideals whose bottom line is that if you don't agree with it, you should be put to death, especially if you are a Jew or a Christian.

The first of the Ten Commandments is "You shall have no other gods before Me." In Deuteronomy 28, the Lord God set forth the curses of disobeying His commandments, among them, "The Lord will send on you cursing, confusion, and rebuke in all that you set your hand to do…The Lord will cause you to be defeated before your enemies…and the Lord will bring you to an unknown nation and you shall serve other gods of wood and stone." The President, to his credit, is trying to keep the peace here in this nation between the Muslims and everybody else, but keeping the peace does not mean appeasement, nor does it give license to disobey the word of God.

In his most recent message—called the President's Ramadan Message—President Bush says, "According to Islamic teachings, this month represents when God delivered His word to the prophet Muhammad in the form of the Qur'an… Ramadan and the upcoming holiday seasons are a good time to remember the common values that bind us together. Our society is enriched by our Muslim citizens whose commitment to faith reminds us of the gift of religious freedom in our country." Muhammad's Koran is totally inconsistent with the Word of God in the Bible—because the god of the Koran is satan. And it's difficult to be bound together with someone whose values are such that we should be beheaded if we don't agree with his or her brand of religion.

And it's questionable about how our society is enriched by a zealous cult who wants to end our way of life. But the President is not unlike many in the church today who believe that common ground for the common good supercedes the truth of the Word of God. Pluralism, the belief that all religions have equal value, has captured much of the Christian church and has rendered it ineffective. Jesus said in Revelation 3:15,16, of the church of the Laodiceans, "I know thy works, that you are neither cold nor hot: I could wish that you were cold or hot. So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of my mouth." Choose this day that you serve, for me and my house we serve the Lord.

An Overview of Islamic Beliefs - by Dr. Norman Geisler

Islam means "submission." A follower of this religion is called a Muslim, "a submitted one." Muhammad, the founder of the Islamic faith, was an Arabian trader from Mecca who was born around 570 and died in 632. As Christians measure history from the birth of Christ, so Muslims set the hinge date of history at 622, the year Muhammad fled from Mecca to Medina. This Hijra (hijj means "flight" in Arabic) marked Muhammad's turning point of submission to God and his proclamation of a new revelation from God. Muslims believe Muhammad to be the last prophet of God, superseding Christ, the prophet who was before him.

Muslims believe in submitting to the one and only one God, named Allah. They are categorically opposed to the Christian belief in the triunity of God (the Trinity). To believe that there is more than one person in God is an idolatry and blasphemy called shirk.

The Word of God.

Although Muslims hold that God revealed himself in the Jewish Law (tawrat), the Psalms (zabur), and the Gospels (injil), they claim that today's Christian Bible is corrupted, or tahrif. They assert that the Qur'an is the final Word of God. It is divided into 114 chapters or suras and is about the size of the New Testament.

There are five basic Muslim doctrines:

1. There is one and only one God.

2. There have been many prophets, including Noah, Abraham, Moses, Jesus, and Muhammad.

3. God created angels (jinn), some of which are good and others evil.

4. The Qur'an is God's full and final revelation.

5. A final day of judgment is coming, followed by heaven for the faithful and hell for the lost.

Besides these five central beliefs, there are five basic pillars of Islamic practice:

1. All that is necessary to become a Muslim is to confess the shahadah: "There is no God but Allah, and Muhammad is his messenger.

2. One must pray the salat, usually five times a day.

3. One keeps an annual fast (sawn) through the ninth lunar month of Ramadan.

4. One gives alms (sakat) to the needy, one-fortieth of one's income.

5. Every able Muslim must make one pilgrimage during life to Mecca.

Muslims also believe in jihad or holy war, which some radical groups have exalted to the level of a pillar. While this may involve killing infidels for their faith, more moderate Muslims think of it as being a sacred struggle with the word, not necessarily with the sword.

Many doctrines are shared with Christianity, such as creation, angels, heaven, hell, and the resurrection of all people. As for Christ, they affirm his prophethood, virgin birth, physical ascension, second coming, sinlessness, miracles, and messiahship.

Muslims deny the heart of the Christian message, namely, that Christ died on the cross for our sins and that he arose from the grave physically three days later.

God as Absolute One

Allah is described by Muslims in terms of several basic attributes. Fundamental to all is the attribute of absolute unity. Of all the Islamic God's attributes, the most important is his undivided unity. To deny this is blasphemous.

The Islamic God is his absolute and indivisible unity. In sura 112, Muhammad defines God in these words: "Say: He is God, The One and Only; God, the Eternal, Absolute; He begetteth not, Nor is He begotten; And there is none Like unto Him." This sura is held to be worth a third of the whole Qur'an. The seven heavens and the seven earths are founded upon it. Islamic tradition affirms that to confess this verse sheds one's sins as a man might strip a tree in autumn of its leaves" (Cragg, 39).

Two words are used in the Qur'an to describe the oneness of God: ahad and wahid. Ahad is used to deny that God has any partner or companion. In Arabic, this means the negation of any other number. The word wahid may mean the same as the first word or it may also mean "the One, Same God for all." That is to say, there is only one God for Muslims, and he is the same God for all peoples. God is a unity and a singularity.

God's Oneness is such a fundamental aspect of Islam that, as one Muslim author put it, "Islam, like other religions before it in their original clarity and purity, is nothing other than the declaration of the Unity of God, and its message is a call to testify to this Unity" (Mahmud, 20). Another Muslim writer adds, "The Unity of Allah is the distinguishing characteristic of Islam. This is the purest form of monotheism, that is, the worship of Allah Who was neither begotten nor beget nor had any associates with Him in His Godhead. Islam teaches this in the most unequivocal terms" (Ajijola, 55).

It is because of this uncompromising emphasis on God's absolute unity that the greatest of all sins in Islam is the sin of shirk, or assigning partners to God. The Qur'an sternly declares "God forgiveth not (the sin of) joining other gods with Him; but He forgiveth whom He pleaseth other sins than this: one who joins other gods with God, hath strayed far, far away (from the Right)" (sura 4:116).

God as Absolute Ruler

In the words of the Qur'an,

God—there is no god but He—the Living, The Self-subsisting, Eternal. No slumber can seize Him nor sleep. His are all things In the heavens and on the earth. Who is there that can intercede in His presence except As He permitteth? He knoweth What [appears to His creatures As] Before or After Or Behind them. Nor shall they compass Aught His knowledge Except as He willeth. His Throne doth extend Over the heavens and the earth, and He feeleth no fatigue in guarding and preserving them For He is Most High, The Supreme (in glory). [sura 2:255]

God is self-sustaining and does not need anything but everything needs him. This attribute is known as aseity, or self-existence. God is The Mighty and The Almighty He is The Willer of existing things and the things which will exist; and nothing happens apart from his will. He is the Knower of all that can be known. His knowledge encompasses the whole universe which he has created and he alone sustains. God is completely sovereign over all his creation.

Many of God's ninety-nine Islamic names speak of his sovereignty. He is:

• Al-Adl, the Just, whose word is perfect in veracity and justice (6:115);

• Al-Ali, the High One, he who is high and mighty (2:225-26);

• Al-Aziz, the Sublime, mighty in his sublime sovereignty (59:23);

• Al-Badi, the Contriver, who contrived the whole art of creation (2:117);

• Al-Hakim, the Judge, who gives judgment among his servants (40:48-51);

• Al-Hasib, the Accounter, who is sufficient as a reckoner (4:6-7);

• Al- Jabbar, the Mighty One, whose might and power are absolute (59:23);

• Al-Jalil, the Majestic, mighty and majestic is he;

• Al-Jami, the Gatherer, who gathers all men to an appointed day (3:9);

• Al-Malik, the King, who is King of kings (59:23);

• Al-Muizz, the Honorer, who honors or abases whom he will (3:26);

• Al-Muntaqim, the Avenger, who wreaks vengeance on sinners and succors the believers (30:47);

• Al-Muqsit, the Observer of Justice, who will set up the balances with justice (21:47-48);

• Al-Mutaali, the Self-Exalted, who has set himself high above all (13:9-10);

• Al-Qadir, the Able, who has the power to do what he pleases (17:99-101);

• Al-Quddus, the Most Holy One, to whom all in heaven and on earth ascribe holiness (62:1);

• Al-Wahid, the One, unique in his divine sovereignty (13:16); the Unique, who alone has created (74:11);

• Al-Wakil, the Administrator, who has charge of everything (6:102);

• Malik al-Mulk, Possessor of the Kingdom, who grants sovereignty to whom he will (3:26).

God as Absolute Justice

Several of God's names bespeak his absolute justice: the Majestic, the Gatherer, the Accounter, the Judge, the Just, the Most Holy One, to whom all in heaven and on earth ascribe holiness, the Observer of Justice, and the Avenger.

God as Absolute Love

Contrary to a popular misunderstanding, Allah is a God of love. Indeed, some of God's names depict this very characteristic. For example, God is Ar-Rahman, the Merciful, the most merciful of those who show mercy (sura 1:3; 12:64), and Al-Wadud, the Loving, compassionate and loving to his servants (11:90, 92). He has imposed the law of mercy upon himself (sura 6:12). He says, "My mercy comprehends all" (7:156). Muhammad said in the Qur'an, "If you do love God, Follow me, and God will love you And forgive you your sins. For God is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful" (sura 3:31).

God as Absolute Will

There is a certain mystery about God's names. Historian Kenneth Cragg affirms that these names "are to be understood as characteristics of the divine will, rather than laws of his nature. Action, that is arising from such descriptives, may be expected, but not as a matter of necessity." What gives unity to all God's actions is that he wills them all. As Willer he may be recognized by the descriptions given him, but he does not conform to any. The action of his will may be identified from its effects, but his will of itself is inscrutable. This accounts for the antithesis in certain of God's names (see below). For example, God is "the One Who leads astray," as well as "the One Who guides."

God as Absolutely Unknowable

Since everything is based in God's will and since his effects are sometimes contradictory and do not reflect any absolute essence, God's nature is utterly unknowable. Indeed, "the divine will is an ultimate beyond which neither reason nor revelation go. In the Unity of the single will, however; these descriptions co-exist with those that relate to mercy, compassion, and glory" (Cragg, 64) God is named from his effects, but he is not to be identified with any of them. The relation between the Ultimate Cause (God) and his creatures is extrinsic, not intrinsic. That is, God is called good because he causes good, but goodness is not part of his essence.

Muslim monotheism is vulnerable to many criticisms, particularly from a Christian perspective. Crucial is their rigid idea of absolute unity.

The Problem of Absolute Unity

Islamic monotheism is rigid and inflexible. Its view of God's unity is so strong that it allows for no plurality at all in God. Hence, it sees nothing between monotheism and tritheism (three gods), and Christians are placed in the latter category. There are several reasons for this misunderstanding. For one thing there appears to be a misunderstanding of the biblical text related to God. Muslims also have a rather grossly anthropomorphic view of what it means for Christ to be a "Son" of God. This often seems to demand some kind of sexual generation, according to their thinking. But the terms "Father" and "Son" no more necessitate physical generation than the term alma mater implies that the school from which we were graduated was our physical womb. Paternity can be understood in more than a biological sense.

There is a deeper and more basic philosophical problem. In the final analysis God has no (knowable) essence or nature from which one can distinguish his three persons or centers of consciousness. This position is known as nominalism. God is absolute will, and absolute will must be absolutely one. A plurality of wills (persons) would make it impossible to have any absolute unity. And Muslims believe God is absolutely one (both from revelation and by reason). Reason informed Muhammad that unity is prior to plurality. As Plotinus put it several centuries earlier (205-70), all plurality is made up of unities. Thus unity is the most ultimate of all. Accepting this neoplatonic way of thinking leads logically to a denial of the possibility for any plurality of persons in God. Hence, by the very nature of his philosophical commitment to the kind of neo-Platonism prevalent in the Middle Ages, Islamic thought about God was solidified into an intractable singularity which allowed no form of trinitarianism.

This rigid monotheism is not entirely consistent with some of Islam's own distinctions. Muslim scholars, consistent with certain teachings in the Qur'an, have made distinctions within God's unity. For example, they believe the Qur'an is the eternal Word of God. Sura 85:21-22 declares, "Nay, this is a Glorious Qur'an, (Inscribed) in a Tablet Preserved! [in heaven]" And in sura 43:3-4, we read, "We have made it a Qur'an in Arabic, that ye may able to understand (and learn wisdom). And verily, it is in the Mother of the Book, in Our Presence, high (in dignity), full of wisdom" (cf. sura 13:39). This eternal original is the template of the earthly book we know as the Qur'an.

Muslims insist the true Qur'an in heaven is uncreated, and perfectly expresses the mind of God. Yet they acknowledge that the Qur'an is not identical to the essence of God. Some Muslim scholars even liken the Qur'an to the divine Logos view of Christ, held by orthodox Christians. As Professor Yusuf K. Ibish stated of the Qur'an, "It is not a book in the ordinary sense, nor is it comparable to the Bible, either the Old or New Testaments. It is an expression of Divine Will. If you want to compare it with anything in Christianity, you must compare it with Christ Himself." He adds, "Christ was the expression of the Divine among men, the revelation of the Divine Will. That is what the Qur'an is" (Waddy, 14).

Orthodox Islam describes the relation between God and the Qur'an by noting that speech is an eternal attribute of God, which as such is without beginning or intermission, exactly like His knowledge, His might, and other characteristics of His infinite being (see Golziher, 97). But if speech is an eternal attribute of God that is not identical to God but is somehow distinguishable from him, then does not this allow the very kind of plurality within unity which Christians claim for the Trinity? Thus, it would seem that the Islamic view of God's absolute unity is, by their own distinction, not incompatible with Christian trinitarianism. The basic Muslim logic of either monotheism or polytheism is invalid. They themselves allow that something can be an eternal expression of God without being numerically identical to him. Thus, to use their own illustration, why can't Christ be the eternal "expression of Divine Will" without being the same person as this Divine Will?

The Problem of Voluntarism

At the very basis of the Islamic view of God is a radical voluntarism and nominalism. For traditional Islam, properly speaking, God does not have an essence, at least not a knowable one. Rather he is Will. True enough, God is said to be just and loving, but he is not essentially just or loving. And he is merciful only because "He has imposed the law of mercy upon Himself" (sura 6:12). But since God is Absolute Will, had he chosen to be otherwise he would not be merciful. There is no nature or essence in God according to which he must act.

There are two basic problems with this radical nominalism: one metaphysical and one moral.

The metaphysical problem

The orthodox Islamic view of God claims, as we have seen, that God is an absolutely Necessary Being. He is self-existent, and he cannot not exist. But if God is by nature a necessary kind of being, then it is of his nature to exist. He must have a nature. Orthodox Islam believes that there are other essential attributes of God, such as, self-existence, uncreatedness, and eternality. But if these are all essential characteristics of God, then God must have an essence. Otherwise the attributes could not be essential. This is precisely how essence is defined, namely, as the essential attributes or characteristics of a being.

The moral problem

Islamic voluntarism poses a serious moral problem. If God is only will, without an essence, then he does not do things because they are right; rather they are right because he does them. God is arbitrary about what is right and wrong. He does not have to do good. He does not have to be loving to all; he could hate, if he chose to do so. Indeed, in sura 3:32 we read, "God will love you.... God is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful," but verse 33 says that "God loveth not those Who reject Faith." So love and mercy are not of the essence of God. God could choose not to be loving. This is why Muslim scholars have such difficulty with the question of God's predestination.

The problems of agnosticism

Since God has no essence, at least not one that the names (or attributes) of God really describe, the Islamic view of God involves a form of agnosticism. Indeed, the heart of Islam is not to know God but to obey him. It is not to meditate on his essence but to submit to his will. As Pfander correctly observed of Muslims, "If they think at all deeply, they find themselves absolutely unable to know God.... Thus Islam leads to Agnosticism" (Pfander, 187).

Islamic agnosticism arises because Muslims believe God caused the world by extrinsic causality. Indeed, "the Divine will is an ultimate, beyond which neither reason nor revelation go. In the Unity of the single Will, however, these descriptions co-exist with those that relate to mercy, compassion, and glory" (Cragg, 42-43). God is named from his effects, but he is not to be identified with any of them. The relation between the Ultimate Cause (God) and his creatures is extrinsic, not intrinsic. That is, God is called good because he causes good, but not because goodness is part of his essence.

Among the significant weaknesses inherent in this agnosticism, a moral, a philosophical, and a religious problem stand out immediately.

First, if God is not essentially good, but only called good because he does good, why not also call God evil, since he causes evil? Why not call him sinful and faithless, since he causes people not to believe? It would seem consistent to do so, since God is, named from his actions. If Muslims reply that something in God is the basis for calling him good, but nothing in him is the basis for calling him evil, then they admit that God's names do tell us something about his essence. In fact, they admit an intrinsic relation between the cause (Creator) and the effect (creation). This leads to a metaphysical problem with the Islamic view of God.

Second, at the root of medieval views of God, an entrenched neo-Platonism springs from Plotinus. Plotinus' belief that the Ultimate [God] was absolutely an indivisible One heavily influenced Muslim monotheism. Further, Plotinus held that the One is so utterly transcendent (above and beyond all) that it cannot be known, except by mystical experience. This influenced both orthodox Muslim agnosticism and Sufi mysticism. The fundamental reason there can be no similarity between the One [God] and what flows from It (the universe) is because God is beyond being, and there is no similarity between being and what is beyond it.

Thomas Aquinas provided the definitive answer to plotinian agnosticism and mysticism. Aquinas argued that an effect must resemble its cause. "You cannot give what you have not got." Hence, if God causes goodness, he must be good. If he caused being, he must be (Geisler, Thomas Aquinas, chap. 9).

Objections to this view generally confuse either a material or instrumental cause with an efficient cause. The efficient cause of something is that by which it comes to be. The instrumental cause is that through which it comes to be. And the material cause it that out of which it is made. Material and instrumental causes do not necessarily resemble their effects, but efficient causes do. The painting does not resemble the artist's paint brush, but it does resemble the artist's mind. The brush is the instrumental cause, whereas the artist is the efficient cause.

Another mistake is to confuse material and efficient causality. Hot water is soft, yet it can cause an egg to get hard, because of properties in the egg. The same hot water softens wax. The difference is the material receiving the causality. Thus an infinite God can and does cause a finite world. God is not thereby finite because he caused a finite cosmos. Nor is he contingent because he, as a Necessary Being, caused a contingent universe. Finiteness and contingency are part of the very material nature of a created being. God is unlike creation in these kinds of ways. On the other hand, everything that exists has being, and God is Being. There must be a similarity between Being and being. God is pure actuality, with no potentiality whatsoever. Everything else that exists has the potential not to exist. So all created things have actuality; since they actually exist, and potentiality; since they could possibly not exist. God is like creatures in their actuality but unlike them in their potentiality; This is why when we name God from his effects we must negate whatever implies finitude and limitation or imperfection, and attribute to him only the pure attribute or perfection. This is the reason that evil cannot be attributed to God but good can. Evil implies imperfection or privation of some good characteristic. Good, on the other hand, does not in itself imply either limitation or imperfection. So God is good by his very nature but he cannot be or do evil.

Third, religious experience within a monotheistic context involves the relation between two persons, the worshiper and God. It is, as Martin

Buber correctly observed, an "I-Thou" relationship. But how can a person worship someone about which he can know nothing? Even in Islam, one is supposed to love God. But how do we fall in love with someone of which we know nothing? As atheist Ludwig Feuerbach put it, "The truly religious man can't worship a purely negative being.... Only when a man loses his taste for religion does the existence of God become one without qualities, an unknowable God" (Feuerbach, 15).

Some critics have suggested that the extremely transcendent Muslim view of God has led some Muslim sects to deify Muhammad. Since relationship with the transcendent God is seen to be distant, it is only through Muhammad that one even dares to approach the throne of God. In Qawwalis (a popular cultural event), Muhammad is praised in verse. This often takes the form of deification: "If Muhammad had not been, God himself would not have existed!" This is an allusion to the close relationship Muhammad is supposed to have with God. Muhammad is often given titles like "Savior of the World" and "Lord of the Universe." The popular deification of Muhammad, who so violently opposed any such idolatry; only shows the theological bankruptcy of the Muslim view of a God so distant and so unknowable that the devotee must make contact with something they can understand, even to the extent of deifying the prophet who condemned idolatry.

The problems of extreme determinism

Since in Islam the relationship between God and human beings is that of Master and slave, God is the Sovereign Monarch and humans must submit. This overpowering picture of God in the Qur'an has created its own tension in Muslim theology regarding God's absolute sovereignty and human free will. Despite protests to the contrary; Orthodox Islam teaches the absolute predestination of both good and evil, that all our thoughts, words and deeds, whether good or evil, were foreseen, foreordained, determined, and decreed from all eternity, and that everything that happens takes place according to what has been written for it; Sura 6:18 says "He is the Irresistible." Commenting on these kinds of Qur'anic statements, Cragg points out that God is the Qadar, or "determination," of all things and his taqdir, or "subjection," covers all people and all history. Nature, whether animate or inanimate, is subject to his command and all that comes into existence—a summer flower or a murderer's deed, a newborn child or a sinner's disbelief—is from Him and of Him." In fact if "God so willed, there need have been no creation, there need have been no idolatry; there need have been no Hell, there need have been no escape from Hell" (Cragg, 44-45).

There are four basic problems with this extreme form of predetermination: logical, moral, theological, and metaphysical. In order, it involves a contradiction; it eliminates human responsibility; it makes God the author of evil, and it gives rise to pantheism.

The logical problem with Islamic determinism is that even Muslim commentators are forced to acknowledge that God performs contradictory actions. Islamicist Ignaz Golziher summarizes the situation, "There is probably no other point of doctrine on which equally contradictory teachings can be derived from the Qur'an as on this one" (Golziher, 78). One Muslim scholar notes, "The Qur'anic doctrine of Predestination is very explicit though not very logical" (Stanton, 54-55). For example, God is "the One Who leads astray," as well as "the One Who guides." He is "the One Who brings damage," as also does Satan. He is "the Bringer-down," "the Compeller" or "Tyrant," and "the Haughty." When describing people, all these concepts have an evil sense.

Muslim scholars sometimes attempt to reconcile this by pointing out that these contradictions are not in God's nature (since he does not really have one), but are in the realm of his will. They are not in his essence but in his actions. However, this is an inadequate explanation. God does have a knowable nature or essence. Hence, Muslim scholars cannot avoid the contradiction that God has logically opposed characteristics by placing them outside his essence within the mystery of his will. Further, actions flow from nature and represent it, so there must be something in the nature that corresponds to the action. Salt water does not flow from a fresh stream.

Others attempt to downplay the harsh extremes of Muslim determinism by creating a distinction, not found in the Qur'an, between what God does and what he allows his creatures to do by free choice. This solves the problem, but, only through rejecting clear statements of the Qur'an, tradition, and creeds.

These statements can be seen in connection with the moral problem with Islamic determinism. While Muslim scholars wish to preserve human responsibility, they can only succeed in doing so by modifying what the Qur'an actually says. Sura 9:51 declares: "Say, Nothing will ever befall us save what Allah has written for us." Sura 7:177-79 adds, "He whom Allah guides is he who is rightly guided, but whom he leads astray, those are the losers. Indeed, We have assuredly created for Gehenna many of both jinn and men. Sura 36: 6-10 reads: "Verily the sentence comes true on most of them, so they will not believe. We, indeed, have set shackles on their necks which reach to the chins so that they perforce hold up [their heads]. And We have set a barrier in front of them, and a barrier behind them, and We have covered them over so that they do not see. Thus it is alike to them whether thou warn them or dost not warn them; they will not believe."

The Qur'an frankly admits that God could have saved all, but did not desire to do so. Sura 32:13 declares: "Had we so willed We should have brought every soul its guidance, but true is that saying of Mine: 'I shall assuredly fill up Gehenna with jinn and men together."' It is extremely difficult to understand how, holding such a view, one can consistently maintain any kind of human responsibility.

There is also a theological problem with this severe view of God's sovereign determination of all events: It makes God the author of evil. In the Hadith traditions Muhammad declares "the decree necessarily determines all that is good and all that is sweet and all that is bitter, and that is my decision between you. According to one tradition, Muhammad slapped Abu Bakr on the shoulder and said: "0 Abu Bakr, if Allah Most High had not willed that there be disobedience, he would not have created the Devil." Indeed, one of the most respected Muslim theologians of all time, Al-Ghazzali, frankly acknowledges that "He [God] willeth also the unbelief of the unbeliever and the irreligion of the wicked and, without that will, there would neither be unbelief nor irreligion. All we do we do by His will: what He willeth not does not come to pass." And if one should ask why God does not will that men should believe, Al-Ghazzali responds, "'We have no right to enquire about what God wills or does. He is perfectly free to will and to do what He pleases.' In creating unbelievers, in willing that they should remain in that state;... in willing, in short, all that is evil, God has wise ends in view which it is not necessary that we should know" (Haqq, 152).

In the metaphysical problem with Islamic determinism, this extreme view led some Muslim scholars to the logical conclusion that there is really only one agent in the universe—God. One Muslim theologian wrote, "Not only can He (God) do anything, He actually is the only One Who does anything. When a man writes, it is Allah who has created in his mind the will to write. Allah at the same time gives power to write, then brings about the motion of the hand and the pen and the appearance upon paper. All other things are passive, Allah alone is active" (Nehls, 21). This pantheism is at the heart of much of medieval thought. Thomas Aquinas wrote Summa contra Gentiles to help Christian missionaries dealing with Islam in Spain.

This radical predeterminism is expressed in Muslim creedal statements. One reads: "God Most High is the Creator of all actions of His creatures whether of unbelief or belief, of obedience or of rebellion: all of them are by the Will of God and His sentence and His conclusion and His decreeing" (Cragg, 60-61). Another confesses:

God's one possible quality is His power to create good or evil at any time He wishes, that is His decree.... Both good things and evil things are the result of God's decree. It is the duty of every Muslim to believe this.... It is He who causes harm and good. Rather the good works of some and the evil of others are signs that God wishes to punish some and to reward others. If God wishes to draw someone close to Himself, then He will give him the grace which will make that person do good works. If He wishes to reject someone and put that person to shame, then He will create sin in him. God creates all things, good and evil. God creates people as well as their actions: He created you as well as what you do (Qur'an 37:94). [Rippin & Knappert, 133; emphasis added]

The attitude of God's absolute control over every aspect of his creation profoundly influences Islamic theology and culture. Persian poet, Omar Khayyam, reflected the fatalistic strain of Muslim theology when he wrote:

'Tis all a chequer-board of night and days Where destiny with men for pieces plays; Hither and thither moves and mates and slays, And one by one back in the closet lays.
